Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

period= beta 0?

hey ladies-quick question. as of friday the 10th my levels were down to 40- yesterday i had a huge temp drop & wicked heavy bleeding/clots/cramps etc. so i'm assuming this is my period. not just the lame bleeding/spotting that i've been dealing with for the past 3 weeks, but my actual period- right?

i manually started a new cycle with FF & it's continued on into today but i just wanted some reassurance that you can have your "period" even if you may have somer lingering HCG. i go in for my "last" bit of bloodwork this friday & with all this bleeding i'm pretty sure my levels will be at 0- hopefully.

so yeah- i guess i just wanted to make sure & also i'm pretty happy that my body seems to be doing what it's supposed to. thank you guys!

Re: period= beta 0?

  • YAY! If I remember correctly, if AF is here your beta's are at 0, or at least below 5. My OB threw a wealth of knowledge at me 2 weeks ago and I wish I could have gotten it all in writing!

    Good luck this cycle!

  • I am pretty sure that your levels are either zero or at least under 5, when you get AF.

    The week that I got AF, I had a a blood draw on a Monday... I got the results that Friday and my levels were 2.5.  I started spotting Friday night and got AF Saturday.  I think on Sunday, I had a huge temp drop.

     I hope this helps.

  • Hi.  I had an unusual experience where I got af after my d&c but my levels weren't back to zero (actually they were quite high).  My dr monitored them and I ultimately had a methotrexate shot to get them back to zero.  I believe this is rare though.  I sounds like your body's just getting back to normal.

  • I am not entirely sure -- but I can share my experience with you.  I did not have my levels monitioed until 5 weeks post m/c (switched OB) and they were at 20 the first time checked.  I actually passed a couple pieces of greyish material the day they were checked (had some clotting the days just prior to that) -- so I hoped it was AF, but my doctor did not think it was.  I felt like I started my period (normal body cramping and other signs) about 5 days ago.  3 days ago I had my levels checked and they were 6 (10 days from last check).  I never really stopped bleeding when I started last (had three days off at CD17 post m/c, then started on cd21 again) but it is different.  So, I think this is it or close to it.  I hope it is for you too!

  • After my first loss, I got my period but my levels were still in the 60s - it took about three more weeks for them to drop to zero.

    BTW, I love Twilight too - me and one of my girlfriends at work are huge closet fans.  Are you excited about the movie?
