So we told my parents last night that we are pregnant again. Of course they are excited and hopeful. But one of the first things my dad said was "the rabbit died!?" which elicited a huge "huh?" from DH and me. Apparently the old HPT was to inject your urine into a female rabbit. The belief was that if the rabbit died, you were pregnant!
I have confirmed the use of this method as a pregnancy test, but apparently the rabbit always died, so it wasn't too reliable.
I also had to explain to both of them in response to the question "how far along are you?" why you are already considered two weeks pregnant when you conceive. They were amazed. Funny how things change!

The rabbit doesn't die, the rabbit is killed. If there are cysts on, I think it's the kidneys, the presence of HCG is detected.
And yes. I knew that. I deemed myself #1 rabbit killer in 2009.
