anyone else NOT using a NN for charlotte?

we have chosen the name charlotte if we have a girl (team green) but we are not using any nicknames...seems like everyone else out there is after a NN.

anyone else just love plain ol' charlotte?

  • me! me! me!

Okay, well I'm not actually using the name, but I definitely prefer (and love) just Charlotte. In fact, I loathe pretty much any of the nicknames (especially Charlie) that are brought up on here for it. Great name! :)

  • If we were considering it, I would NOT use a nn. I think it's beautiful as a stand alone name. Very classic.

  • My best friend has two daughters, Charlotte and Eleanor.  Neither of them have a nn and I love it!

  • I will only be using Charlotte if that is what we name a daughter. I don't really care for any of the nn's for Charlotte.
  • I don't mind the nn's for Charlotte, but I absolutely love the name along.  Very classy!
  • We won't be. I also don't really think about 'planning' on nn's though. I do not like the nn 'Lottie' so I will be sure no one calls her that. SO's dad has already said he plans on calling her 'Charlie' though. I'm not opposed to him calling her that.

  • We don't "plan" on calling our Charlotte by a nickname all the time. Just as a term of endearment, we have been calling her Lottie.

I prefer Lottie over Charlie any day.

  • No nicknames for our Charlotte.  We have a Jackson and an Anthony and they have never been called Jack or Tony b/c we have never called them that.  It has never been a problem at all.  I don't like Lottie at all.  Charlie is ok, but I love charlotte as it is so that is what we'll use!
  • I love Charlotte more than any of its nicknames. Its a beautiful name on its own!

As an aside, I disagree with pp that you won't be able to control her nicknames in school... your child will introduce herself as Charlotte and be known as that. Any other nicknames will be silly pet names stemming from other sources. My name is very easily shortened and usually is, but I never went by a nickname and no one ever tried to call me by one :)

  • I prefer just Charlotte- a name that pretty doesn't need a NN!

  • LOVE Charlotte! It is one of our top picks right now & we would not use a nickname. I think it's a beautiful, classic name on it's own. It's also only 2 syllables, so using a nickname wouldn't shorten it at all anyways. GL!
