Stupid question - waterparks and pregnant...

Do you think I'd be ok to do some of the milder waterslides with the kids tomorrow.  I never went to a water park prego with the other two lol.  I'm thinking I should be ok on the wimpier ones with my littlest

    I asked my doctor about this at my last appointment and she said..NO!  she said to stick with swimming & that's it but no slides.

    I hope they're safe b/c I totally saw a commercial for Seaworld & Aquatica today & I think I might force DH to take me there very soon!!

    I'd suggest keeping your legs closed, so you don't get a water enema.  And SUNSCREEN!!!  you will burn a lot easier.  Otherwise, have fun!

    If you have to label this as "stupid question," I think you already know the answer.

    I'm sorry if that's harsh, but I wouldn't even think about a waterslide while pregnant.  They actually probably have signs up that tell you not to ride if you're pregnant.  Stick with swimming and the lazy river.

    The devil's drop slides (the really steep ones that are narrow and straight) are typicaly not recommended, and neither are the really speedy ones. But I'm sure some of them are fine. Just use your judgement...

    First of all in my opinion thats not a stupid question. When you are flying down a slide I don't find that to be a bad question. And secondly what is up peoples butts tonight, rude rude! Perfectly good question, I was wondering this the other day & just figured I woudl stay off for safety reasons. I would ask your OB, nothing wrong with wondering if soemthing is safe for your unborn child.

    I actually know of two people who did go down waterslides while pregnant (they were both about 25 or so weeks pregnant at the time). They both had their babies right after that. I think one of them actually had a placental abruption.

    I don't know your pregnancy and I'm not your OB so I would talk to them. They are the experts. I asked my midwife about this a few weeks ago and she told me to go ahead just stay off the one's that drop straight down. I went, everything was and is fine. I would still ask your OB though. And I really don't think it's a stupid question, just suited for someone who knows your body, your baby, and your whole pregnancy better than us. Good luck and have fun!

    Ok first off I was planning on going on any crazy rides.  I was talking about doing the family raft ride or doing the baby section with my 2 yr old.  Thank you to the ladies that still have manners and are able to respond without attitude lol!

    I'd avoid anything that had the potential to "hit" your belly with the water or that could force water up your vagina. Either could be dangerous. Lazy river sounds awesome, though!

    Not a stupid Q.  There are signs up at water parks which advise pregnant women not to ride.  They're there for a reason.  Just as you wouldn't (or shouldn't) go on a roller coaster, you are best to avoid the water slides as well.

    My doctor told me water slides are fine. Just avoid anything that would cause you to land/fall on your belly.

    the mild kid slides are probably fine... i wouldn't just cause i would rather be in the lazy river Wink

    I went when I was about 25 weeks. Almost every ride said not to ride while pregnant. On the other hand, most said also not to ride for a whole myriad of other reasons including not being a "strong swimmer". They have to have these warnings to protect themselves but ultimately you know what you are comfortable with.

    I stayed away from the body slides but did go on several of the big family raft rides. Interestingly, I was pretty leary of the wave pool as it was crowded and WAY too many oppurtunities to accidentely get a good kick/punch to the belly.

    I still had a great time and hope you do too =)

    Yeah, same here.  I had fun in the lazy river, but when I got into the wave pool, I realized it was a bad idea.  The park I went to has a wave pool that has cycles of HUGE waves, and people swim out into them to try to ride them back in.  When I saw all of those people riding the wave headed right for me, I thought, "Oh crap!"  I got out right away. :)

    But the lazy river was nice.

    I've been told water slides are a no-go, even the simplest ones. You don't realize how hard you hit that water at the end and the bump of the impact might not fair too well with baby. 

    The wave pool wouldn't be any different than the beach but the chance of someone hitting your belly might be of concern.

    I'm itching to go on a water slide but I'm resisting. Living in the theme park capital of the world it's tough to afford but I guess I'm too chicken to chance anything.

    Enjoy your day tomorrow, your post inspired me to want to go to the local pool tomorrow. :O)

    I hate to admit this, but I did water slides last week!  I felt totally safe and stable, and feel it was fine.  I guess it depends on the slide and the person.
