Mar's class uses them at the 14 month mark (ish) I think. Marion wouldn't dream of staying on one at home, but it's amazing what peer pressure can do at school!
DD's school has a transitional toddler room that is roughly 15-18mo. When they move to this room they go down to 1 nap a day and start working on using nap mats. But they have some cribs for kids who aren't ready yet. (To move out of this room kids have to graduate from high chair to eating at the table, give up bottles, and sleep on a mat).
I've been remiss...he has not had anything but water in a sippy, only uses the crib for sleep. He doesn't use utensils either...but he has to go to a toddler room because of the influx of several new babies in the infant room. I just don't think he's ready but we don't really have a choice.
Nothing remiss about that. I didn't teach ny kid to sleep on a mat. Daycare wanted her to sleep on one so they taught her. DD didn't use utensils at all ubtil close to 2 (introduced fork around 18mo). If you want him to drink milk in a sippy, send it to school that way, he's more likely to rink it there.
