Pulling on their ears

My one DS has been pulling at his right ear for about a week now.  He was not overly fussy so I just assumed it was teething or something.  If he is crying he usually grabs his ear, but other than the brief moment when he is crying he is in a fine mood and there doesn't seem to be a problem.

Do you think I should give the pedi a call?

Re: Pulling on their ears

  • Does he have a temp at all, and have they had a cold?  Both of my boys had a cold, but were otherwise happy as clams.  One of them had a temp of 100.3 (which isn't really a temp according to the pedi), but it turned out they both had ear infections.

  • Nope, no temp, just ear pulling.
  • Maybe it would be a good thing to ask the dr. next time you go in.  If there's no temp, it's probably just that he's checking out his ears, but maybe something's bothering him in there (fluid, wax, etc. - which could make it hard for him to hear?)  I don't have my babies yet, but I am a speech pathologist so I deal with many baby hearing and ear issues. Good Luck!
