know anyone named Archer?

you can't tell anyone b/c DH doesn't want to reveal our names yet, Stick out tongue but if baby is a boy, our name is Archer. Now I realize Archer is not a new name, but I was surprised it was on several of your lists when we had that post about names you didn't use for your baby. I know there are other people in the world named Archer, but I don't want DS to be one of 6 Archers in his class or anything. This was the first year Archer appeared on the SSA list so it is definitely gaining popularity but it was somewhere in 600 - 700s so not exactly popular.

But since we don't tell anyone our names, I have no idea if everyone knows an Archer or if no one does.

So what are your thoughts? any Archers in your area?

I've never known anyone named that, and I'm probably a good one to ask, since I teach an entire school of about 500 kids every year. In my 11 year teaching career so far, I've probably taught a total of about 4000 (with overlap of many of the same kids each year) kids.....never had an Archer.

I like it a lot, though! Have you considered that some people might call him Archie? Personally, I think Archie is adorable.

Well good news so far! And especially from a teacher...you definitely know more kids that I am sure I ever will!

Inevitably, I know people will call him Archie. I prefer Arch, but nicknames are one of those things you really can't control. My only hangup with Archie is my mom...I am sure she will hate any name that she didn't come up with (even if she would have come up with it, but didn't...she still won't like it!) and I know she will say "Archer? Archie? You named your son Archie Bunker?!) Stick out tongue but I guess that is just moms for you!

and just for fun...Archie Bunker (whom I do love...that old man used to crack me up!)

it could be this...and FX adult cartoon named Archer, but the guy's name is Sterling Archer. (Archer is a last name that is being used as a first name now) https://www.fxnetworks.com/shows/originals/archer/

and then from what I understand on Private Practice, Addison's brother is Archer, but apparently he is a complete jerk-alert so I am not worried Archer becoming the next Aiden (just b/c everyone loved Aiden in SATC)

Archer isn't common, but not off the wall either. Great choice We are having a terrible time coming up with a boy name (so no doubt we would have a boy if this all pans out). MH wants the name Rollie...as in Rollie Fingers (the baseball player with a handlebar mustache) Indifferent

I completely understand the trouble with coming up with a name. I have hesitations with Archer, but I've got nothing else!! No Plan B. I really didn't think it would be so hard to pick a name, but it really is! Rollie is cute...it does sound like a nickname a little to me, but that maybe b/c I hadn't heard of Rollie Fingers before. Is there another name similar to Rollie you both might like & DH can call him Rollie as a nickname?? (though people may think it is Raleigh as in NC). I don't know...I am no help!

Yup, that's it!

I loved the name Aiden since I saw Aiden Quinn in a movie when I was in HS, but it's way too popular now so we didn't even consider it.

That's one of my favorite boy names! We heard it on the radio on our way to one of our OB visits. I think it was a guest, an author? His name was Archer and I thought, that's cool. DH said it would be awesome because he could call his son Archie!! I personally LOVE that nickname. So cute!!

That said, I don't personally know anyone named Archer. My mom's friend's late husband was named Art, not sure what it was short for.
