Just wondering what you ladies think of the spellings.
DH and I are likely ttc #2 very soon. We are pretty much settled on Emily/ Emilie for a girl (fwiw, Emilie is the French spelling and is not made up.)
Our daughter is Natalie and we have considered that spelling it "Emilie" might give them a nice tie-in as sisters becuase they both end in "lie." It's also a less popular spelling, which is a bonus since the name is so popular.
However, we're both rather traditional and find Emily to be a more mainstream way to spell it, and perhaps prettier... and it would also be less matchy-matchy for the girls.
WDYT?
Re: Emily vs. Emilie
The spelling Emilie make me want to pronounce the last part like lie not lee, that being said my vote is for Emily.

I vote for Emily. She won't have to correct people, as this is the more traditional spelling. Plus I think it is more visually appealing and looks more mature for when she is older.
Just a random thought- have you considered Amelie? That is a French name almost exactly like Emily, but has the -lie ending you like while still looking mature.

Um... no. It is still Emily and is still said the same. While she may not have to hand in papers as Emily X. she will still be called on as Emily X.

Both spellings are nice, but I think that have two siblings' names ending in -lie looks matchy-matchy. It doesn't impact the pronunciation, but seeing "Emilie and Natalie" written out looks way too similar.
Also, how you spell it won't influence popularity, as a PP said. It would still be pronounced the same... and she'd have to correct everyone all the time.
Go with Emily.
There isn't anything wrong with Emilie, but I would spell it Emily since it is a popular name right now and it would be pointlessly confusing for her to have to spell it another way.
I think Natalie and Emily go beautifully together!!

Emily. I'm biased though because that is what I was *supposed* to be named but my parents changed their mind at the last minute. They named my sister that instead. I also think that if you spell it Emilie, you're going to have a childhood of correcting and she's going to have a lifetime of it. Make it easy and do it "normal".
Just a side note, I used to teach CPR classes for a job back in college and I once had an EmmaLeigh in class. *barf*
There is an Emmalee at the school where I work and an old friend's DD is Emmiley.
Honestly, I think Emily is the easiest spelling, but Emilie is very pretty. If you other DD was not named Natalie I would be more likey to consider Emilie, I just think they look strange written together.
The spelling 'Emily' looks more traditional and it will be easier for people to spell.
However, in my opinion, 'Emilie' appears a lot more feminine and unique and is overall prettier than the 'Y' ending.
On the downside, I always want to pronounce it with a French accent!
If you were choosing this name on its own, what would you do?
Also, besides the obvious Emily being easy for most of America to say, spell etc...different spellings come from different countries with different pronunciatons.
