Do you miss wearing "real" clothes?

I do. I can only get into about 25% of my pre pregnancy clothes (damn last 5lbs of baby weight!), and most of my wardrobe was work clothes and I miss them! I do try to look nice when we go out, but dry clean only clothes (especially tops) just don't seem practical with a baby/toddler around. But I am not fond of my unintentional "mom" wardrobe of shorts and a t-shirt all summer. I'm actually looking forward to fall when I feel I'll have more flexibility with clothes.

Re: Do you miss wearing "real" clothes?

  • I have found myself in big cardigans and a variety of long sleeved tshirts (I live in the UK) all of which are machine washable.  I live in jeans and yesterday I had to get a bikini for my holidays.  I don't think I have worn anything that tight/figure hugging in about 3 years!!

  • I feel for you.  For 4 years, until I was done BF DS, I just got buy.  Finally, this summer, I have bought nice clothes again.  I was up, then down, then way down, then back to normal, then pg again, then way up, then back to normal, but he was still eating all the time, so couldn't really buy anything not nursing compatible, which ruled out most things I like to wear (dresses).    It is so nice.  It has only been a couple of months since I shed mom hag.
  • I am not gonna lie. I don't miss them one bit, I love shorts and tshirts.
  • I have my old work cloths still in the closet, I miss wearing them a lot. Even just corporate casual cloths I miss. I'm always in summer shorts and a tank right now, or a swim suit since we go to the pool so much. Then in the fall and winter its jeans and sweaters or long sleeve tops.

Funny because when I was working I would have loved to wear jeans a lot!

  • I don't miss work clothes.  My casual clothes are way cuter.  I like being able to concentrate just on those, not have this "double life" wardrobe of things appropriate for work, then things I actually want to wear.  I love living in shorts, summer skirts and dresses!

  • I can tell you I don't miss wearing suits when I was pregnant. I wore suits every day of my last pregnancy- and I don't miss that at all.

Haha, "mom hag". That's exactly how I've been feeling. Even when I try to put an outfit together and accessories I'm still feeling a bit blah. Ack!

  • Rather than missing wearing "real clothes," I just miss "looking like a woman."

  • LOL! No, I don't but that's because I worked in Construction Management and my clothes, while business casual, ALWAYS had some sort of construction debris on them.

I like the clothing I wear now. More feminine (hard to do in a construction environment)......

  • I still try to wear real clothes a few days a week. Maybe not dryclean stuff, but at least a sundress.
  • I started gaining weight after I got married and moved back to the south (damn delicious fried food!), so I have gone through different wardrobes a couple times in the last several years even before getting pregnant.  I would just like to get back to a size where I can always find clothes that fit in my favorite stores (I'm on the plus size borderline right now).  However, I loved maternity pants because the high waist ensured my hiney never peeked out when I sat down/bent over!

  • YES.  I majorly miss feeling like I look "cute" on a regular basis.  Sure, I could spend more money on clothes that I just run around town in, but when I am now chasing a 2 year old and breastfeeding, I can't exactly where the more expensive cute stuff that I'd prefer to wear.  (Not that I can always afford it).  Anyway, now that baby 2 is here, I am looking forward to wearing more normal clothes but ... not having an office to go to still dictates that I be more practical than fashionable.  :)

In the meantime, I'm planning on chopping my hair on Saturday because I majorly need a pick-me-up and its always in the way and looks crappy.

  • When I am at home, I'm usually in yoga pants/capris or shorts and a fitted tank/t-shirt.  When I leave the house to run errands, I definitely go for the nicer stuff.  Not fancy by any means but I like to look nice.  I worked hard to lose the baby weight so I'm okay with showing it off:)  Same goes for in the cooler months.  I love me a good sweatshirt and jammy pants but I like to dress up when I leave the house.  I used to work at a bank and I kind of miss looking that nice all the time so I do it whenever I can:)

  • I love dressing in my casual shorts, tanks, cute dresses, etc. They may be casual but they are not frumpy. I am back in my pre preggo clothing and since I am not going back to work have had fun buying cute shorts and dresses. I do not miss the suits and having to follow a very strict dress code.

The thing I do miss are my sexy heels! It is hard to justify wearing them when I can just throw on flip flops and look just as cute. I actually can't wait until jeans season cause I know I can put them on with my jeans and look great, I am short so I have to have a heel or my jeans drag the ground.

  • I'm going to thoroughly enjoy shorts and t-shirts in the summer and the thought of wearing jeans and boots in the winter is great.  My last job was business casual so I'm looking at it as having a lot of really nice church outfits!  I still have my suits too (that I grew out of before getting pg) so when I get down to wherever I'm getting I'm going to pick a couple to keep and have a nice bonfire with the rest.

  • I hate work clothes!  I love the clothes I wear now... casual but put together... jeans, fitted tshirts, tons of dresses/skirts when it's warm, cardigans in the winter, sweaters, etc.
