DS went to the pedi today for his 3 month well check. He's getting big at 14lb 1oz! I (am well as the doctor) are a bit concerned with the flat spot on the back of his head. He said that if it doesn't correct by 6 months, it's time to start thinking about a helmet. So, lots of tummy time and sitting in the bumbo is ahead.
Most days DS takes him long afternoon nap (3 hours or so) on his tummy next to me on the couch. I feel comfortable, not only b/c I'm right next to him, but because he wears a Respisense monitor. It clips onto the front of his diaper and buzzes if he hasn't breathed in 20 second. If the vibration of the buzz doesn't arouse him, a screeching alarm goes off at 30 second.
We are considering letting him sleep on his tummy at night to really keep the pressure off the back of his head. I'm nervous, but at the same time, he has fantastic head control and can roll onto his side (all the way to his back if he really wants to). Also, the Respisense gives me a bit of peace too.
I'm obviously not going to make my decision based on a board of "strangers", but I would like to hear your opinions on whether you would let your 3 month old tummy sleep to help correct their flat spot. TIA!

No, the pedi didn't mention it and to be honest, in this day and age, I couldn't see a pedi recommend that b/c of liability. He's definitely awake enough for tummy time, but I'm just worried that sleeping 12 hours a night will undo any progress the tummy time makes.
Also, I (as well as DH) are CPR certified.
In the past 2 weeks since her 2 month well visit, DD has developed a flat spot as well. We do plenty of tummy time during the day, and she takes naps on her tummy. But like you said, she is sleeping at least 8 hours on her back at night. I would consider it, since you have the Respisense monitor and are CPR certified...I was thinking of doing the same - I have tried getting her to sleep on her side (propping a receiving blanket behind her) but she still moves to her back. GL!
Ps where did you get your Respisense monitor?
I believe the only place you can get them in online. I think we got ours from Stork Radio.
