vinyl wall decals anyone?

We just had DD's room painted and I'd like to add some vinyl wall stickers.  I've found several that I like on etsy and I'm just curious if there is anything that I should look out for wrt quality.  I'm looking for a tree and also some clouds for the ceiling, so they'll be kind of large.  I'm mostly concerned about them sticking well, edges not curling up, etc.  I'm sure these have come a long way since the wall stickers people used in the 80's but I'm just paranoid that once they're in my house they're going to look really cheesy and I'll be disappointed that I spent so much money on them!  Do you have wall decals?  Do you love them?  Have you found they vary widely in quality?

  • We have quite a few - in G's room (his name and a few jungle animals) and a few others around the house too. I have found them to be great quality, easy to use and have not had one peel yet (and I moved a few). I used "XpressionsThatStick" and "janeymacpress" Yes

  • I think they will stick really well regardless of who you choose.  We do have Megan's name on her wall, but it was done with a Cricut and those machines won't get the size you are looking for.

  • I have some in our play room from an etsy seller that I think was Stephen Edwards Graphics. They are really nice. They aren't just like stickers. You have to transfer them to the wall by rubbing them with a plastic doohickey. Sort of like with a temp tatoo how its adhered to transfer paper and you have to peel that off. Anyway, they are nice but not repositionable. I have some cheaper ones for ben's room that really are like stickers. They can be removed and moved around. Both kinds we have seem to stick just fine and nothing is peeling up. If your wall has texture then I would worry about it.

  • thank you all!  I know they are wildly popular and based on pictures, they look great.  Our walls aren't textured - I'm going to go for it.  Watch me get all wall decal crazy.  :)

  • We got ours from etsy seller simple shapes. I can't speak to longevity, but they literally look painted on.

Thanks!  I came out on fb but I felt weird making an announcement here because I don't get over here very often.  We're really excited!  And, I'm tired, tired, tired.  I don't know if it's harder this time around or if it just seems that way because I have a toddler.
