This is a list of women who are dealing with PCOS. Anyone can join in, so let me know if you want to be on this list! We can keep track of everyone?s cycle, offer advice, and support for each other. We check in every week, and the check-ins can always be found in the PCOSbio.
Good luck and lots of sticky baby dust to everyone!

Let us know how you are doing. If you have any questions for the group to answer, feel free to ask.
*As you can see I have cleaned up the list with only the ladies who have checked in within the last month. I am going to do a monthly clean sweep, so if you want to rejoin, just let me know.
QOTW: Question from dah1414: Is Metformin being used for anyone even if you don't show insulin resistence?
Re: ~*~*~ PCOS Check-In ~*~*~ PAIFW
Update: No changes here. Just plugging along at 16w.
QOTW: Yes. I was on metformin and none of my labs indicated insulin resistance.
Just trying not to POAS, I'm 14DPO.
QOTW: I'm no longer on Met, I had to stop to join the research study. I was never tested for IR.
Married 1/2/99.
TTC since 4/09.
Diagnosed PCOS. Diagnosed Hypothryoid 11/09.
SHG & SA normal. PCOS Research study started 5/10.

I have my beta tomorrow, but no pos HPT so no hope left here
My fasting insulin was 30 a few years ago so I started metformin then Wasn't trying at the time, so they didn't check me until recently again and all my labs seemed to be a lot better. A1c was 6, testo was down to better numbers, etc. So that made me happy.
I hate met, but if it makes me better, I will put up with it.

Update: Hoping AF shows early next week so we can hopefully get an IUI this morning--it is kind of iffy b/c of DH's travel schedule.
QOTD: Yes.
TI, IUIs, IVF = c/ps and BFNs
Update: I started my first round of Femara today, I have my u/s next Saturday! I have my fingers crossed.
QOTW: Sorry I can't help.
Update: Currently taking Bravelle 75 iu nightly. Protocol for this cycle was Clomid 50 mg 2-6 and Bravelle until I'm ready for IUI. I go in for monitoring tomorrow morning to see where things are at.
QOTD: I don't know why Metformin would be used for anything other than IF or diabetes, so I would hope a doctor wouldn't just prescribe it for any reason.

Hi ladies,
I have my ultrasound 8/18 to date the pregnancy/see if its viable. I'm nervous but just trying to get through the next two weeks.
I'm on met but I have insulin resistance big time. I have heard that met can help even those who aren't IR. Good luck!
Update: IUI#3 = BFN. Starting with a new RE, so this month is testing month. I've never had CD bloodowrk before, so that is being tested tomorrow.
QOTD: not sure. I have IR and am on the Met.
BFP #3 via cancelled IUI ~ C (2lb 3oz; HELLP) 5/16/11
BFP #4 via the natural (free!) way ~ E (8lb 11oz) 9/13/12
Update: Today is CD3 and I start my 3rd round of meds with the research study! I definitely ovulated last cycle (even though it was super late) so I'm really excited for this cycle (and a hopefully earlier O since I won't likely be sick again)!
QOTW: I was on Met from 7/2009-3/2010 even though nothing indicated IR. I went off for the research study and won't go back on it.

Lots of Luck to all of 3T/IF
Just waiting for my FET - a week from today!
I wasn't IR, but my RE says with PCOS we can be characterized as IR at levels within the normal range. So I'm on met.
It took 5 failed IUIs and a failed IVF, but our FET worked!
My pregnancy after Infertility Blog
Our baby girl was born on April 27, 2011!
Congrats SNB2B!
Update: I actually got a +OPK this week... literally the first one I've ever seen! I've let myself get way too optimistic about this actually working, but it's hard not to when it's the first time I've apparently ovulated on my own!
QOTW: My RE believes anyone with PCOS can benefit from Metformin, IR or not. He keeps patients on it through the first trimester and weans off.
I have PCOS and would like to "join". :-) I feel like I don't know enough about it and how to advocate for myself with my OB/GYN now that I'm TTC and have been off BC since June '09. We just finished our first round of clomid and the dr gave me very different information on when to use the OPK and if I or if not to get a progesterone test.
I'd love a community to go to with my questions and when I need to vent. My friends don't understand and I think my husband just wants to think that it will just happen. He really doesn't want any of the details. . . furthering my feeling of isolation with this subject.
Thanks!
Rhea
No real update from me. I was able to induce AF so I had that b!tch last week. I'm still working on losing weight to help this cause. I'm doing pretty good, not as well as I had hoped to be but anything is better than nothing.
QOTD: I have IR so when I was on it it was for that. Now I'm off and on actos.
Currently pg with our 1st after 6.5 yrs of IF (thank you IVF)

***My posts are always SAIFW**
Update: I lost 7 pounds and *think* I may have ovulated only three weeks into my cycle! Quite a record for my usually 50-60 day cycles...
QOTD: Don't know. My doc took one look at me (low BMI) and my labs and said I didn't need an insulin resistance test. Haven't been to the RE yet so dunno what they'll say.
Congrats SNB2B!
QOTD: I was never put on Met.
Update: NT Scan went great- we officially announced the pregnancy on Monday. SCH is resolved. My two ovarian cysts are going down and the twin has been completed reabsorbed.
Update: I was stressing earlier this week about no AF, but she finally showed up, so that I can be finished before my surgery. I have my hysteroscopy with polypectomy next Friday. I am definately getting nervous! MY DH got SA results back and his WBC's went down to 1 million. The RE says no further treatment is necessay and that we can try TI with Clomid in September. In the meantime, I am trying to shed some pounds!
QOTW- I am on Metformin, but never was tested for Insulin Resistance. It is pretty obvious that I have PCOS with all the other signs and symptoms, so my RE just proceeded with Metformin.
Can you add me to the list? TTC since January '10, dx with PCOS December '08.
QOTW: The Dr. did not want to put me on Metformin because I have not shown in insulin resistance issues yet. I am wondering if this is something I should be looking into more though.
As for how I am...frustrated. Last cycle was annovalotry, which is never fun. I am on CD 15 and no sign of O yet, but I have long irregular cycles, so no suprise there.
Hi. Looks like I've fallen off of the list somehow...
Anyway, I'm about to start Clomid cycle #3. Feeling ok and super positive and hopeful this cycle. Let's hope the 3rd time is a charm!
I missed the last few check ins... been a crazy month for us! I'd like to be added back to the list, please.
I really don't have any updates at this point. Going to try a couple more cycles and then head back to the doc for a referral to the RE. We were told to try for 6 months and then go forth. Looks like that time is right around the corner.
QOTW: I'm on metformin because I'm actually full blown diabetic. Found out when I was diagnosed with PCOS, so I'm not a lot of help there.
Update: Beta tomorrow morning after first IUI - trying to keep busy and optimistic. Took 2 HPTs today and both came back negative but I want to POAS again. Made DH hide all of the tests and he is trying to keep me entertained. I don't know how I'll ever slepp tonight!
QOTW: Didn't do IR testing but all symptoms and other tests pointed to PCOS so RE started Met.
Hey I would like to be added to this list. My name is Ashley and we've been TTC since Sept '09. I'm finishing up my first round of Clomid now.
QOTW: I have not been placed on metformin and I do show some possible insulin resistance.
QOTW: My doctor doesn't prescribe Metformin at all, to any patients. I thought it would be the first thing he'd put me on, but he said he doesn't use it anymore. I don't have IR though.
Update: I haven't really updated on here, because after testing, there wasn't much to say for a while until now. DH and I had an RE appointment today, DH's SA was great, and so we're moving forward with Clomid, which I am starting tomorrow (CD3-7). Here's hoping we get lucky first round!
ETA: I was on the list before, what happened to me? lol
Nothing new here.
QOTW: sorry, I'm no help cause I'm on Met but I'm IR.
Me: PCOS/Amenorrhea DH: Azoospermia due to Y Chromosome Micro Deletion IVF w/ ICSI on hold until further notice
Hope
Update: Negative beta today. IVF w/ICSI coming up as soon as AF arrives.
QOTD: I am IR. sorry =(
Update: First RE appt scheduled for the 17th. I'm excited and H is scared. How is it that he's not the one who will likely be having invasive testing done and he's the scared one?! I'm on CD 45 and no sign of AF. I'm tempted to POAS, but I know it would be a waste.
QOTW: I was diagnosed with PCOS 12 years ago and was only recently put on Met by my endo for the purposes of TTC. She prescribed it in hopes that it would help regulate my cycle after coming off of BCP. I had all testing for diabetes/IR done and all come back negative.
*As you can see I have cleaned up the list with only the ladies who have checked in within the last month. I am going to do a monthly clean sweep, so if you want to rejoin, just let me know.

Nothing new here. Just waiting for AF to make her grand entrance. Last of 10 Provera pills is tomorrow so she should be arriving shortly after. Then I will get to start my 2nd round of injections, and maybe get a mature follie this time. Keeping my fingers crossed!.
QOTW: I am on Metformin, but I do have signs and symptoms of insulin resistance.
I am getting a bit frustrated with this cycle. At my u/s this morning, we showed that my follicles only grew ~1mm in 2 days. So they are really, really slow. We're going to do another u/s Monday...but I'm starting to worry this cycle may be a bust.
QOTD: Yes - I am on metformin and I am not IR. My doctor prescribed it to me due to the studies that have been done to show that metformin can lower miscarriage rate in PCOS women regardless of if they are IR or not. Since I already had one loss, he decided to put me on a low dose of it (500mg)

Update: Just finished with AF. Pretty sure I O'd for the first time in over a YEAR (I at least had EWCM). Now we'll get busy! I have OPK's ready to use in a few weeks.
Q: I am not IR and am on 1500 mg of Met. Hoping it works!
