Lifting your LO while pg

Is there a point when you stopped lifting your LO? DD weighs 24lbs and it's getting so hard to lift her. I know it will get harder as this pg progresses. She walks so I've been trying to have her hold my hand and walk and crawl up the stairs herself. I go back to work in 2 weeks and I'm looking forward to not having to lift her all day!

Re: Lifting your LO while pg

  • There probably shoud have been a point that I stopped lifting the boys, but I didn't.  I just had #3 last week, and I lifted my 3yo and my almost 2yo right up until the end.  In fact, sometimes I had to carry them both.

Of course, my 3yo is probably only 25-30 lbs, and almost 2yo is not quite 25 lbs.

  • DS is abouy 27-28 lbs and I still lift him.  It doesn't bother me too much and he's pretty clingy right now.  When I know I can't do it, I do my best to distract him and have him walk or I sit down and have him climb on my lap.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't :(  Good luck!

  • My dd is about 24 pounds and I haven't had a problem lifting her yet.  I plan to continue holding her till the very end as long as it is safe.
  • alex is just under 20lbs & i haul her around all the time.

i'll probably keep it up until after i have #2 as well.

  • I lifted any/all kids while PG. I had around a 40-45lb weight restriction, but was also told to listen to my body.

DD#1 is 4.5 and around 32lbs right now, so she's VERY light.......DD#2 is and always was a peanut (I think she was like 21lbs at age 2?)

  • Still lifting DS but he's a peanut--maybe 25 pounds soaking wet. I still make him walk up and down the stairs on his own whenever possible. Just listen to your body, you'll know when you're at your limit.

  • DD is 22# and I still lift her.
  • My son weighs 31 lbs, and I still lift him a lot. I am super petite (under 100 lbs at 24 weeks pregnant), but I don't see a way around it since I stay at home, and it's just the two of us most of the day. I encourage him to be independent and walk as much as possible, but he can't get himself in the crib, high chair, or car seat.

  • I'm still lifting DS, but I have been making him walk most of the time. I can say that lifting him has gotten easier than it was in the middle of the pregnancy, I'm not sure if I'm stronger or what.

  • I'm 31 weeks pregnant and DS is 28lbs and I got to my breaking point yesterday when I pulled some kind of muscle in my lower abdomen hoisting him into a shopping cart.  I'm typing from bed right now while my sister watches him because I'm in agony.  Be careful!
