1st Trimester

Anyone feeling more 'forgetful' or 'stupid' now that you are preggers?

DH was like "You are really starting to forget everything? What is going on with you?" and I am usually on POINT with stuff & I find myself searching for the right words to say (in the middle of a sentence), forgetting that I left the water running in the sink....just things that aren't like me...just wondering if anyone else is feeling this way too...and I'm not the only dummy! • I turned the water off in the shower this morning before I rinsed the conditioner out of my hair.

  • I'm right there with you!  I feel like a complete flake since getting pg!

Yesterday I asked dh where the dog was.  The dog was on my lap!  He's a small dog (7lbs), but not so small you lose him completely!

I also repeat myself a lot and forget things.

  • Yes!!!   I definitely feel like my brain is not functioning at 100% capacity.

I actually had my first car accident the week after I found out I was pregnant.   I have never been pulled over, never had any sort of accident etc., so I consider myself a very safe and alert driver.   But, I just didn't notice that the car in front of me had stopped moving.   Duh!   Fortunately, we were only going like 5-10 mph.

  • I will start talking about something and mid sentence forget where I was going with it
  • Yes!  That's me!  I stop mid sentence because I can't remember what I was saying.  I forget things.  One time I was having a convo with my honey and I had to pee. I came out of the bathroom and headed for the computer. Completely forgot we were talking.  He said "Hello Honey....we were talking". LOL

It's frustrating for me because I've always had a superb memory.

  • My DH calls it 'pregnesia' lol, yesterday, no joke, I forgot to pay the restaurant, got to the hotel, had to go back!! I've been awful the last few days and DH thinks it is just so funny.
  • The other day I left the water running after brushing my teeth. I took a long shower and then opened the shower curtain to an incredible flood. Of course being PG, I cried about this. lol
  • Yes!  It's so weird.  It's like I know I am doing/saying it wrong, but yet I keep on doing/saying it lol.

  • I totally have pregnancy brain.  I'm sooo forgetful!  I completely spaced our water bill this month and got a nasty disconnection notice in the mail on Friday (we have a podunk water company that literally cuts off your water if you're like 10 days late on your bill).  Oops!
  • I find myself walking circles in the hallway.  I will go to the kitchen to do something and then relaize I forgot something in the bedroom, so walk back to the bedroom and realize I need to do the kitchen thing first, just going back and forth all of the time with nothing being accomplished.
  • the other week I left my cell phone on the trunk of my car and drove to hte mall with it back there.  Thank goodness for its gripper cover that kept it on the car!!   oh and I put the milk in the pantry cabinent the other day.   I think it is worse this time around!

  • I am so glad to hear it isn't just me. I, too, have been feeling forgetful and kind of flaky, and it's embarrassing! Guess it comes with the territory, though.

  • You are not alone. I very often go into a room to do one thing, do something else and then realize 2 hours later that I never did the thing I wanted to do in the first place.  I tried to put the milk in the dishwasher last week.  I don't even want to know what's going to happen when I get further along... it's scary!

  • ENev we have the same due date I think, I'm 6 weeks 4 days and due 6/4/08... If so, you're the first I've seen!!
  • I really haven't felt stupid until last night. We had a bunch of friends over to play cards and the game changed at each deal and I could not remember how to play half of the games. Everyone kept having to explain things over and over and I was just like, "Sorry everyone my brain is smaller than yours right now" lol. Its true, your brain sjhrinks 8% when you're pregnant.
  • I thought I had severe ADD yesterday.  I kept starting to clean one area of the house, and then jumping to another area, forgetting what I was doing.
  • i wish i could tell you that it gets better after DC is born however, NOPE it doesn't  It still sticks with you.  I went to Target to shop and I was talking with the cashier.  I walked out and went to put DS in the car and realized I forgot my bags inside.
  • It's not that I'm really forgetful, I just feel like a total scatter-brain and on top of that I feel like I am becoming dyslexic so bad! I have never in my life felt this way. It is so frustrating, I am constantly spelling and reading things incorrectly. I have to repeat things I see on my computer at work. For instance 593 Grove Street...only I will say 953 Grove Street.... Stuff like that happens A LOT.  Or when I am writing, same thing...
  • Just realized this morning I f-ed up something at work....VERY stupid mistake and unlike me, can't wait to explain that one to the boss.  Ugh.
