LO can get out of the Pack n Play, what now?

My mom has off work on Wednesdays, so she takes DD to spend some time with her and give me a little break.  Anyway, she just tried to put her down for a nap and she climbed right out of the pack n play.  She's still in her crib at home, so she hasn't slept in a big bed yet, so what do we do when she's not at home?

  • just an idea from what we use for DS @ daycare...nap mat..., but only if you think she would sleep on one...you could put in on the floor or take out the 'mattress' to the pack n play and they can sleep on that with some extra padding.

  • Maybe get her a cute little sleeping bag. or like the PP the pad out of the pack and play. I think it would be safer to make her a little spot on the floor.

  • oh wow.  i was just thinking about this yesterday.  we nap one in the nursery, and the other in my room in a PNP.  if/when they start climbing out of cribs i plan to use crib tents.  i don't know that anyone makes tents for PNPs??

the idea of a nap mat doesn't thrill me.  i know it works great in a DC setting, but i don't think babies feel the same peer pressure at home to lie on a mat.  plus i'm guessing (mine don't go to DC) that the sleep area has to be baby proofed... maybe you could gate off an area, or use a super yard.  but she might escape that too.  still i might try the mat thing just to see!  would be an easy solution if it does work.

  • Thanks, I'm also thinking about getting one of those little chairs that can fold out.

i guess OP could get a peapod... not sure if a toddler could escape one of those.  i'd like to borrow someone's peapods to travel with the girls, but don't feel like buying 2 of them just to find out my girls hate them.

  • I also don't want to spend too much money on something because she will be ready for a big bed soon enough.  So, I'm thinking fold out chair, or we'll just get her the bed rail and give it a shot.

  • Walmart has a mesh tent like thing that you can attach to the pack n' play.  We're about a week away from getting one.....our guy is really close to breaking free!
