Third baby- very, very quick & easy birth! (Pitocin & epidural)

I'll keep this concise because there really isn't much to tell! I delivered my third child in April, and want to give hope to all you ladies that childbirth will get easier the next time. :-)

I started to dilate around 36 weeks, and by my 38 week appointment I was 4cm and 50%. My OB was sure I wouldn't make it to my next appointment, and he was right. Two days later my water broke. Since I was already 4cm and this was my third baby, we headed to the hospital immediately.

Regular contractions never developed, and my OB started pitocin a few hours after I ruptured. I also asked for my epidural at that time. Then things really took off. Within an hour, I was fully dilated and effaced. I pushed with about 4 contractions, and our baby was delivered. He was born so quickly that his poor little face was bruised from the rapid descent through the birth canal. The "damage" wasn't too bad. Just a first degree tear and some bruising courtesy of an 8 lb. 2 oz. boy!

No complications from the pitocin or the epidural. My two previous deliveries involved both pitocin and an epi as well, no problems then either.

Hope this helps someone.
