Hi Ladies! Dh is actually scheduling his ASVAB & physical as we speak. He's looking into the Air Force Reserve (Active won't accept GED's or his high school diploma due to him being home schooled). I was just wondering if you have any thoughts/advice/insight. I'm 12 weeks pregnant so the recruiter is telling us DH might miss the delivery of our first depending on the dates he gets.

Re: DH is thinking about joining... advice please!
the active AF used to accept GEDs, but changed their policy once the branch needed to start cutting numbers down.
if your DH is serious about the military but doesn't want to miss the birth, after he goes through MEPS and chooses a job have him discuss the dates with you before he signs any contracts. They have the delayed enlistment program which is used for when people don't want to take a school slot right away or if there isn't one until a certain time. even if he picks a job that has a long tech school, if the duration is over a certain amount the family can move out and live with the airmen while they're in training.
My husband got things going for the Army when I was 3 months and we were lucky enough that they ship him for Basic in October which means he'll be here for the birth and her first two months.
Good luck and I hope you get as lucky as we did!
