North Dakota Babies

Ever feel like you are the only one ...

... who's baby has to be walked/rocked/bounced to get to sleep?

... who's baby screams and cries throughout the day?

... who's baby refuses to take naps?

... who's baby refuses to sleep in it's own crib/bassinet?

... who's baby wants to eat ALL.DAY.LONG?

Today is one of those days where I feel like I am the only one who's baby just doesn't smile all day and lay down while still awake and put themselves to sleep and sleep for hours on end. I am not complaining ... I know C is a baby and they do these things, but sometimes I feel like I am the only one who deals with this.

Re: Ever feel like you are the only one ...

  • You are not alone sweetie (((hugs mama))) I hope C gives you a little break today.

  • Jennifer, you are definitely not the only one.

    Rose can vouch for me.  Mari was very very very difficult for a long while.  It wasn't until she hit 3 months until I started to see some marked improvement in my days.   It wasn't until right before I left for Greece until I started to truly enjoy being a mommy.  Now, we have our rough days, but they're much less often.

    And also, I noticed that Mari's cues weren't really easy for me to read until she was around 3-months old... so she's be crying and crying and I wouldn't know what to do about it, but now I can kinda figure out why she's crying when she is.

  • Cristina... thats my biggest  thing right now. C cries and cries, like screams and i have no clue why. It breaks my heart. It's like, I know babies cry, but I just wish i knew why so I could atleast try to help him feel better.
  • Dude, I feel ya - it killed me too.   And people used to say "oh, stop, they all cry!"  um... not like that, they don't.

    What I've learned is that most of the time when Mari's really upset, she's overtired.  BUT, if I missed that little window of time when she's to go down for a nap (the fine line between tired and overtired), the whole rest of my day is screwed (even still).

    Oh, and by the way, the moby wrap made a world of difference.  WHen Mari was really little, I'd wear her and she'd be right out... the screaming woudl stop, the crying would stop, she'd fall asleep and I would be able to have some sane time.   Have you thought about getting a wrap?

  • I have a Moby wrap and just took it out yesterday. I'm going to try it out today.
  • If it makes you feel any better, Reese hasn't wanted to sleep for the last 2 nights, & the only sleep I've gotten has been with her in my arms because she won't tolerate her bassinet. Last night, I just rocked her & cried with her because I didn't know what else to do. We're all going through it with you, just to different extents. It definitely sounds like C is an exceptionally high maintenance baby. I hope it gets better for you soon! {{{HUGS}}}
  • You're definitely not alone! I think all of us have spend time in tears during feedings or when LO just won't stop crying and we're out of ideas. The moby wrap is fantastic, please let us know how it goes and let us know if you have questions!!
