Does anyone else have an Ob that thinks 99% of that is a bunch of bogus non-sense? When I had my first appointment he said I can eat pretty much absolutely anything I want. As long as my meat is cooked to atleast med-well and that I eat no raw fish. His only other no-no was caffine for now, less than 5 servings a week. It just seems that so many were given lists of no-nos. And reading posts below about heating lunch meat or not eating macaroni salad??
Re: What not to eat
Uh...yeah. My RE, his nurse, and my OB have all said 99% of what's out there is nonsense.
It's about being sensible. Logical.
And you forgot hotdogs!
My nurse clinician just gave me a list of things that they caution I avoid - or at least not eat everyday. She said lunch meat is relatively harmless unless of course it is something you eat everyday (then she suggests to cut back)
However, within the past couple of years, there has been listeria outbreaks in deli meats. So I have personally decided to cut it out of my diet for now. It's not exactly the healthiest thing to eat anyways!
Other than that, most of it is just avoid eating too much of certain foods. Eating the occasional piece of big fish (swordfish, etc) isn't going to cause any issues, but if you eat it everyday it could get dangerous.

What sweetpea said - my doc said be smart - if you wouldn't eat at the place pre pregnancy, don't eat there now.
Check the "best by" date - don't eat it if it's close or past.
Don't eat raw meat/fish
No alcohol obviously.
Eww hotdogs. That's one food I haven't touched in close to 10 years and probably won't. We watched a documentary on how they're made in my filming/editing class in high school - totally ruined them for me.
I'm really glad I'm not alone! I was so happy that I wasn't given restrictions but since he's published I was starting to wonder if maybe he's too "research" minded and that he's out of touch with the rest of the community.
