Feeling your baby kick

So, last night I was lying on the couch watching "Teen Mom" and I could feel my little guy kicking pretty hard and I looked down and could actually see the knot in my belly from where he was kicking. I was like wow! He's packing an awfully hard punch for a fella who isn't even a pound quite yet!

Are any of you getting the feeling that your baby is doing tae kwon do in your belly?

Re: Feeling your baby kick

  • YES. My mom saw him kick from across the room once. I gave DH a list of professional soccer players we can name after since he apparently has a real knack for kicking. lol
  • Loading the player...
  • Yes.  I joke that he's practicing his corner and dead ball kicks (DH plays soccer).

I'd posted this about a week ago but my DH got to see the visible kicks and started singing "Hello my baby, Hello my honey, hello my ragtime gal."  If you've seen the end of Spaceballs, that's the reference.

  • I love seeing my belly move! The kicks are the best.

For weeks during the world cup, whenever that Hyundai commercial came on, DH started joking about doing the same thing.  When spain won he was making jokes like "How about Cesc VeryGermanLastname?"  I was willing to meet him halfway with "Xavi" (short for Xavier). LOL

  • aww im so jealous of you ladies!  im still only feeling flutters right now.
  • definitely! and it seems to hurt (which I don't remember with DS)... but it's really picked up in the past week or so! :)

  • It just makes you wonder what exactly they are doing in there? I wonder if it's just fun for them to flop around and kick and punch and all that? I can even feel him when he has hiccups now. It's really cute, and it's a cool feeling to notice them moving more often than staying still.

What does this feel like? I hear people saying this all the time but I haven't a clue what I should be "looking" for.

  • I'm sitting at work with my Ritmo belly speakers on... baby is listening to Mozart and all of a sudden I FELT IT!  His first kick!  It just happened about 10 minutes ago and I started to cry at work because I'm so happy and excited!  Anyways, I'm thinking he's dancing in my belly as he listens to his music, hehe.  Can't wait to feel more.

That commercial cracks me up!! My german soccer loving family is all for me naming our son after a player! DH is 50% dutch and well...the names are just too strange for me. lol. I'm all for Cristiano Ronaldo LastName! haha

To me it just feels like if I had a mild case of the hiccups in my belly instead of feeling it in my chest. It's not as strong as when you have it, but you'll feel this repetitive little jolt in your tummy. I felt DD have them all the time in my first pregnancy, and she even had them all the time when she was born. It's crazy.

  • I'm super jealous!  So far I've just felt flutters once and then there were two times where it felt like a faint kick, but it's all been so far apart that I'm sure I imagined it now.  I can't wait until I'm as lucky as you gals and can actually see it happen.

  • I can't see it from the outside, but I am definitely feeling the kicks/punchs these days. Last night, I was laying on my right side and she kicked me in the same spot about 10 times in a row. I rolled over to my left side and barely felt anything else, so I think that was her way of telling me to move! LOL

  • I feel them much more frequently which tells me little sweetpea will be an active little thing! Last night I actually saw my belly move as she kicked!  I honestly feel like I have a nervous stomach all day now because she's constantly turning and flipping!!
  • I just felt my LO for sure for the first time last night.  It's sooo sureal.  I was beginning to get worried because I had seen so many of you ladies already feeling your babies.

  • I think Nugget must be too busy swimming to kick. The nurse midwife said he/she was zooming around when she was looking for his heartbeat but I haven't felt more than flutters and a very rare poke.

Such a considerate child. Doesn't want to bother mommy. Stick out tongue

Yes, this is how mine is.  At our u/s last week baby was moving so much that the doctor couldn't get all of the measurements he needed, but I've only felt a few flutters and little pokes every once in a while.  It's very strange!

  • Yes. It was always really cool to feel the first movements (and all movements, really) and then to feel them with my hands.

But seeing them was a whole new level...of creepy. I feel like there's an alien in there. It's awesome and weird at the same time.
