Success after IF

I don't understand the baby name board

I hate that people feel they can attack anything they want. I totally get saying NMS or that sounds like a porn name if it's true, but I had a few people tell me they actually hated the name Brighton AFTER I have clearly already named my son that.  What an awful thing to say.  Clearly I am no longer asking opinions on his name (not that I ever did) as it's a done deal.

I have only posted a handful of time on there, but read from time to time to get baby names, and I just never understand it!

ps I should make it clear I don't care if they don't like a name I present.. sooo not the point... I can handle that.

Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! • I just read your post!  Ugh!  I saw just one downright cruel answer, but WHY BOTHER?  B!tch. Wink

Really, I don't get it either.  And I think Brighton fits your little masculine miracle perfectly. :)

  • Part of me wonders if the responders were morons, and thinking you were deciding between Brighton or another name....

I do not understand the meanness, and Brighton would NEVER strike me as a female name.

  • I had to go look too. I swear some people sit around waiting to pounce. Brighton is a beautiful name btw.

  • I love Brighton's name and those crazy witches on that board don't know what they're talking about.  I've been only a couple times to watch a feeding frenzy and I think it's insanity.
  • OMG I love the name Brighton, they are nasty over there

  • I sure don't "GET" it at all, either.

I guess I can see asking for an opinion, but who hangs out there and responds?  Why would it be interesting to open up post after post to say "I like it" or "not my style".  I guess if you just want to be mean, but how boring is that?

  • Um, there is some SERIOUSLY UNNECESSARY snark in the responses to that post.  They really need to get a life.  I'm sorry.  :(  FWIW, I love the name Brighton and I think Aven is super, super cute.

  • First of all...I love the name Brighton!

I experienced the same thing but not directly toward me.  I've just read several posts where people state they really dislike the name Stella.  I guess different strokes for different folks.  I read these posts when I was perusing the board for baby #2.  I'm pretty sure there are plenty of people who don't like the name Hadley either.  Oh well!  I would just hope people would keep their pie holes shut instead of saying something.  It's so rude!

Course, I have a very odd name so I'm used to getting comments on my name.

Don't let them bug you!!  They can get pretty snarky sometimes.

FWIW, I love Brighton!  And some of the names that they actually prefer are horrendous ; )

  • I don't get why people can't just say they don't like it or not my style. Why editorialize?

for the record I love the name, and really love it for a boy or a girl...

  • they can be brutal on that board, just FYI I have a friend who has a little girl named Aven- I think it's adorable.

There are nice ways to say it- or to give other options, but some people just don't understand that.

  • There are just some really, really unpleasant women on these boards.  Nasty, shittty people who get off on tap-tap-tapping their meanspirited responses on their hate-encrusted keyboards.

I'm not even going to look.  Your son is adorable, has a lovely unique name, and great, kind parents.  Too bad the nasty responders can't claim the same.

    Wheee!

  • I don't go there.  it is like the queen of the universes sit on the board and nix most ideas...kinda the reason I don't go to the baby shower board.

Most likely ppl have a stupid opinion about whatever..
