carpal tunnel...how do you sleep?

I had this with DD but it was only the last 2-3 weeks. I was pulled off work on my due date so I just napped during the day on the couch off/on since I couldn't sleep well at night. This time it's starting much earlier so I need to get it under control. I got a brace that really helped the first 2 nights. But the last 2 nights, not so much. Last night was miserable & I was in tears. It hurt so BAD. I got up & googled, did some strecthes & laid in bed after that.

Would sleeping propped up help? Do you do exercises for it? What all has helped you?

ETA: Can we get cortisone shots?

Re: carpal tunnel...how do you sleep?

  • I sleep in braces and have been seeing a chiropractor that does neck adjustments that seem to help.  Other than that, just Tylenol when it gets really bad.  My OB mentioned the possibility of seeing a hand specialist if the chiropractor can't keep it under control, but so far I haven't needed that.

  • I've been having issues with this since June. The braces help sometimes but some nights are worse than others. I have also tried propping my hand up on a pillow so that I am not leaning on my hand when sleeping. This helps too...

  • Oh I've been suffering with this too.  Mostly just in one wrist.  I got a wrist brace to wear a night that sort of helps, but sometimes I feel like it's making it worse.  I just try to stretch it out as much as possible and not bend my wrist when lying down....
  • I wear wrist braces to bed so I cannot bend my wrists at all. My midwife suggested taking B6 vitamin because she has this as well. I honestly haven't done the B6 because the braces are helping just enough. I also ice my wrists after work if need be. I hope it gets better for you!
  • I've had it in both wrists since 10 weeks, some days it hurts badly but most days I can handle it. Tylenol hasn't done me any good. I keep my hands elevated a little and make sure that if I do put an arm under my pillow, I dont lay my head on it to add any pressure, because then it feels so much worse when I wake up. I guess I should be grateful because I have heard from others with worse pain, more like what you are having to deal with. For me, its more a lack of strenght in my hands than the pain that has affected me while awake. Good luck.
