I posted this on parenting but thought it would make sense to post here as well!
1) Does your day care provide meals and/or snacks? If they provide meals, are you happy with the meals they provide?
2) Is your day care close to your home or your work?
We're thinking of moving our two children to day care closer to home (work is about an hour away) for logistical reasons. They day care that we went to today provides all meals with an am and pm snack. I've never heard of a day care doing this and was unsure of the quality of the meals!
I love the day care that we use now but think that the best move for us would be to switch to get them closer to home!
Re: XP - Day care questions...
1. Our daycare provides meals and snacks for the toddler room and older. I'm very happy with the quality of the food. There are state guidelines that need to be met as far as the nutritional value of the meals in daycares and we get a menu for each month so we can see what she is eating each day. She gets a good variety of whole grains, protein, fruits and veggies every day.
2. Our daycare is about halfway between our house and my work (40 minutes between each) and is about 10 minutes from DH's work.
Ours provides all meals and snacks and we love it. Great variety and mostly healthy. They have a cook that comes ins and makes a lot of the stuff.
Close to home - makes a ton more sense for us as I work from home 2x a week and DH also works from home from time to time and also, if I am sick, I can still easily get the kids to daycare.
Now that my daughter is in the toddler room, all of her meals are provided and it is seriously awesome. When she was in baby daycare I had to rack my brain everyday and bring her food to the center. Like the PP said, there are state guidelines and the kids really do get a healthy variety. I love our daycare because they don't serve juice. Water and milk only. (That is my one and only steadfast rule...no juice!)
I really think this will make your life easier because you won't have to prepare food for your children to take with them to "school" (that is what we call it)!
We are really close to our daycare and it's a huge blessing. The morning is hectic enough and it's nice that we get her there in a jiffy.
Take care!
1) Our daycare does provided meals and snacks. We're actually switching to a different daycare for this LO (closer to home!) but at my older sons' previous care we were happy with the food quality, the balance of the food groups, etc. We will see with this new center but I have heard great things about them.
2) Our new center is maybe 1-2 miles from our house now. I anticipate this being a huge help to us when LO gets here considering we also have 2 other boys to pick/drop off at school, take to ball practice, etc. Our previous center was about 15 minutes in the opposite direction of my work but we really loved the teachers and everything about the center. This time around I asked a bunch of other moms in the area and have heard great reccomendations for this new center so we're giving it a try.
2) Is your day care close to your home or your work? Both. My office is VERY close to my home, so my daycare is equal distance to the two. If I had a commute I would probably choose a daycare closer to my home.
Yes, our daycare provides meals/snacks. Things like cheese toast, fruits and veggies, Cheerios, etc. Nothing too elaborate right now since DS is only 11 months but I am happy with what they provide and it makes it so much easier on us.
I'd say our DC is pretty close to both home and work. On a "good" traffic day, it takes less than ten minutes to get there.

2) Is your day care close to your home or your work? It is close to our home. 5 minute drive and 15 minutes from DHs work. I drive a lot throughout my day to various locations for my job and I don't always start out and end at the same location. So close to home made sense. Plus I wouldn't want DS stuck in the car for an hour during my commute. Although his days are long at day care I much rather him be there than stuck in his carseat.
