These fcukers really got my blood boiling this morning.
Ok, so at Lilly's 3 month check up they were out of like 2 or 3 of the vaccines she was scheduled to get, so they just said we'll catch up at the 6 month appt. No problem. Well, at the 6 month check-up, she got her shots then they said that during the first week of August, (but not before then), she would need to come in and get the last of the 'catch up' shots. No problem. I could do that. Well, when I was leaving the 6 month visit, I asked to make an appt for the 'catch up' shots and the nurse said I didn't need to make an appt because she wouldn't be seeing the Dr., she would just see the nurse to get the shots. So, I was like ok, see you then.
Well, I got up there today and the receptionist looked at me like I had two fcuking heads when I said I didn't have an appt. So I told her that the Dr. and the nurse said not to make an appt, just to show up one day this week. (This is a smaller doc's office, and they are rarely busy.)
So I go, sit and wait, then get called back to the exam room and the nurse comes in there with me and says "I need to ask you some questions..." She said that it wasn't in Lilly's chart that she needed the extra shots. I told her what the Dr. said last time I was there and she kinda just stopped and looked at me with a dumb face. So, I said, "Well, can you look and see if there are any shots she should have had by now but hasn't?" She said, "That's a good idea, let me go check." Ugh, idiot. She said it like, 'Oh, I would have never thought of looking that up.'
So I sit in the exam room for about 20 mins, with Lilly screaming because she's fighting sleep, then the nurse pops back in and says, "I haven't forgotten about you, we're just checking to see if you can get the shots today." I was like WTF lady! I know we're supposed to get some shots today! So I asked, "what do you mean?" She said that I was supposed to come in by July 29 to get the make up shots. This kinda infuriated me because she kinda said it in a tone that implied I had done something wrong. So I said sharply, "Well, they told me NOT to come in before the 1st, so I don't know what to tell you, I was just doing as I was told." Before she stepped back out, I asked if she could look at Lilly's ears because she had been tugging on them the past few days, and she said "No, you'd have to talk the the [scheduling] ladies upfront and make an appt because you would have to be seen by the Dr." I just kinda looked at her like Really? Its that much trouble to look at my kids ears? Whatever. So I just said nevermind, I'll deal with it later. I was so pissed at this point. So, she stepped back out of the room.
About 45 mins later, with Lilly finally asleep in my arms I poke my head out of the exam room door, and find our nurse and she just said the Dr. is checking to see if she can get the shots today. At this point I was just pissed off about the whole thing. I had been there for about an hour and twenty minutes so I was just ready to go at that point. But she said it would be just a few more minutes.
Well, low and behold about 20 minutes later the Dr. steps in. He said that she missed a polio, and a hep b vaccine and those can just be caught up at the 9 month check up, but the ROTA virus she missed by a week, and they can't catch that one up past 32 weeks. So, I just said ok, as long as she gets them at the 9 month I'd be ok with that.
But right before he was about to step out, I asked him if he could look at her ears because she was tugging at them, and she has been unusually fussy the past few days. So he kinda took a deep sigh, and started asking me all these questions about any symptoms she has. Then he checked her ears and in her left ear, whatdaya know, she has an ear infection. So, he takes a rolling-eyed deep breath and said "Well, I guess I gotta go fill out the paper work since this turned into an appt." WTF dude, this is your job, get over it!! I'm sorry my kid inconvienced you by having an ear infection...d*uchebag.
Anyway, he said yeah, she's got a little bit of an infection, we'll give her some ammoxicillan and it should clear up. The entire visit just blew my mind at how poorly they were treating us. I was livid by the time we left and the fact that I am pms'ing didn't help at all.
I am seriously going to write them an angry letter or something, they sucked.
Well, thanks for reading this if you made it all the way through. I feel better for at least getting it out ![]()
Re: Pediatrician vent (long)...
OMG. I am getting pissed just reading that and I didn't even go through it! I would 1. write a letter to complain and 2. be looking for a new pedi.
That is just unacceptable.
AGREED!!!!
This exactly. Find a new pedi and then send you letter telling them why you left.
That sucks!
I was pissed at the docs yesterday too since I had made an appt a mo ago, and they could have told me then that it would be a really busy day since all the kiddos are trying to get shots and physicals taken care of before school starts. We were there for a total of 3 hrs. Then Nick gets his shots right when he's falling asleep.
Everything is so exciting when you're one!
Thanks for your concern ladies.
I am definitely going to find a new pedi after her 9 month shots. I'm only going to back to them for those because hopefully they'll remember me and will know about the situation so I won't have to go through it again with someone new.
Truth, be told, I almost started crying half-way through the appt just because they were making me feel like and idiot, but I knew I was right, so I stuck through it. Note to self: don't have a bad pedi appt while pms'ing. LOL.
