why do cribs convert to full and not twins

so this may be a dumb questions - but why do most of the convertible cribs convert to be full size beds and not twins - when they are daybeds is there a way to take one side off so that it is like a normal  twin?  To me it makes more sense for a kid to be in a twin then a full.

Re: why do cribs convert to full and not twins

  • Some but not many go to a toddler bed with one rail off.  The sides of the crib make the size of a toddler bed and the front and back rails make the size of a full size im guessing thats why they make a toddler bed or a full size bed.  I think I have seen have a few that go to a twin but im not sure how that works.

  • There are quite a few mini cribs that convert to twins. I believe they go to full's because of the width of the headboard.

This--if you want one that converts to a twin, you need to get a mini crib. If you want one that converts to a full, you get a regular crib. I think both regular and mini can also convert to toddler bed.

  • i agree, it's rather silly... this is why i'm debating nixing the whole convertible crib option since i'd hang on to the crib most likely anyway for baby #2 and just get baby #1 a new place to sleep when the time comes.
