My husband and I picked out four baby names two for a boy and two for a girl. We were thinking of going with the name Chase Michael Geyer for the boy, but everyone thought he'd get made fun of because they read it as go and chase...should we not use this name since everyone thinks he'll get made fun of?
The other boy name got made fun of too, Damian for a boy everyone thinks it's demonic or satanist and I just don't understand why. I don't know what to do if we have a boy. Damian means: To Tame/ subdue.I swear my husband likes no other boy names that we both agree on.
Re: Baby Names Rejected by the Fam.
Isn't there a movie about Damian and he's like the son of Satan or something? I've never seen it, but I think that's the association they have.
I love Chase, and don't think he'll get made fun of. It's a pretty normal/common name that I'm sure your family just isn't familiar with!
You and your husband are the only ones who get a vote in the naming process. I would stop sharing names with the rest of your family at this point.
This is why they are referring to Damian as being "demonic". If you like the name, ignore it. It was just a movie lol.

Chase is nms, but it is a nice enough name.
Everyone is telling you that Damian is demonic, because it was the name of the child from The Omen. The child was the antitchrist.

1) I don't think kids get made fun of because of their names as much as they used to... people are using such a wide variety of names, that kids don't seem to even give it a second thought when they meet someone with a "different" name.
2) I think that when you really love a name, you're not going to care what other people think of it... to me this is a sure sign that you've found "the one". So if you're wavering just based on family feedback, then maybe that's good enough reason to go back to the drawing board.
3) If you valued your family member's opinions enough to ask for them, then you should listen to them... if you don't think their opinion matters, then you should stop sharing your name options with them until baby has arrived and you can introduce him by name. Otherwise you will continue to get unwanted opinions.
4) I totally sympathize with not being able to find names that you agree on... but it's do-able!! Keep at it
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living my baby you'll be.

My advice to anyone is to share your names ONLY IF you are prepared to deal w/ negative feedback. Until the baby is here and has that name, people will feel that they can voice an opinion.
Either name is fine. Neither are my style, but they are perfectly fine.

Chase Michael is just fine.
As PP have said, Damian has the connection to the horror film "The Omen". Without the movie connection, its an OK name. However, personally, I would not use it due to the association with the movie.
It's not like Chase is anything surprising - maybe they're not in on the name world (similar to Punky's mom), but for me, I think of the bank. It's nms, but I'm not going to go WTF when I hear it though.
Damian - I like this name, although prefer the variation spelling of Damion. Probably because my cousin is named that. It might be a good way to distance the name from the movie if you're really concerned about it, but my guess is - once they see that little boy, they'll think of Damian as a cute baby. It's not a name that would overpower a child.

My little cousin is Chase and he doesn't get made fun of... and your family would have a new association with the name Damian if it was your sons name. My nephew is Caine... he's 9 and everyone is over it sounding evil.
The names are fine.
Why does your family get a say in this?
If you two like it, do it! Family members can give their opinions until the cows come home. In the end, it's not their kid.
FWIW, I like Chase.
Agree with this!
I've never seen The Omen, but I do think that Damien sounds like demon. Sorry.
Chase is cute.
Definitely agree that you shouldn't share names with family until the child is born.
