Preemies

New here

Quick intro: DH and I are adopting from a family member.  She claims she didn't know she was pregnant, was on drugs and delivered in May.  The docs estimate he was somewhere between 25-28 weeks gestation weighing in at 1 lb 12 oz.  Fastforward to today and he is a plump Wink 4 lb. 10 oz.  The only things keeping him in the NICU are he can't take a whole feed from his bottle and he's having de-sats and occasional bradys.  Oh and we are in two different states so I can't go visit him daily and bond. Crying

I don't really have any questions at the moment.  I just wanted to say hello!

  • Wow, sounds like a difficult situation.  I hope your baby gets stronger every day.

I have a preemie parenting blog with tons of articles about being in the NICU with a preemie, choosing doctors and dealing with nurses, surviving the NICU as a parent, bringing baby home, and raising a preemie.  I invite you to take a look at my blog, browse around and read some helpful information and advice, and share your thoughts and experiences with us.

Good luck to you and your little one.

  • Congratulations! That baby sounds very lucky that you are going to take care of him instead of his biological mother. I hope you meet him soon.
