Hey ladies! I'm Nancy. I'm 11 weeks pregnant tomorrow. I have a 3 year old son. His labor and delivery was not bad but did need the assistance of the vacuum. I had high blood pressure so I got an epidural at 2cm. I just laid in bed all day all hooked up. When it came time to push it went well but with a cord around his neck it was making it hard to make any progress but he was showing no signs of distress until the VERY end.
I've been doing a lot of reading and think that I might be able to avoid some of that and feel more a part of labor and delivery by going more natural. I talked to my OB today (no midwives have hospital rights at the hospital we want to use and there are no birth centers anywhere close so OB it is) and she's all for it. She said that they will require an IV but that she would love to have me up and around and to labor on my own with no pit, epi, etc.She said she will not let me go over 41 weeks since we're so sure of the conception date (confirmed by u/s). My son was born at 38 weeks 4 days on his own so hopefully this kid will follow suit.
I love my OB. She's got this way about making me feel so special and like a real person and not a patient. She always knows so much about me and my son. It's great. I'm just so happy that she's willing to help me have a very natural pregnancy, labor, and birth.
So yeah. I'm excited! I'll likely be around (and posting - not just lurking) quite a bit. I've read a lot but nothing is the same as reading first-hand experiences. So thanks in advance. I've already enjoyed reading quite a bit on here.
Thanks!
nancy

So sea monkey or ape? hee hee
Re: intro!
welcome and congrats on your pregnancy!
btw, you can always decline the IV, even if it's "required." research your options there (obviously, if there is a medical need, get it, otherwise, it's just for the hospital's convenience).
good luck!
Thanks for the info! I was planning to read up but I haven't yet. It's good to know so I kind of have a starting point. The stuff I've read I don't remember them saying much about IVs.
Much appreciated.
