This happened with my mom the other day. DS only drank about 7 ounces, and he was with her from about 8am - 5pm, but he ate tons of baby food. When I got home, he feasted on milk and has been fine.
Maybe she's full from solids? Does she eat solids before or after the bottle? I always bf DS a half hour or hour before giving him solids, so I know he's getting milk.
She'll get used to it--hang it there. Both my kids had a hard time when they first started daycare (DD was 5 m and DS 4 mo). Once they got used to the bottle, they were fine. It took more than 2 wks for my DD, each day she would get a little better. It took like 2 days for my son to get used to the idea that his milk was going to come from a bottle--he's a little less stubborn and was a little younder. The older they are, the smarter they are and the more likely to have a preference for the boob (and against the bottle). Yes, those first few days/weeks, they would eat more at night to compensate.
My DS did this too! He was in daycare for 5 weeks before I was off again for summer break. It took a SOLID 4 weeks for him to start taking 3 bottles a day at daycare. He still takes a long time when eating like that but I feel better about it because he's eating solids too.
He did "reverse cycle" and eats a LOT more at home. He cluster feeds when I get home/wakes up 2-3 times at night to eat... but I'm ok with that. He starts daycare again in 2 weeks... so we'll see how he does this time!
This whole thing has just been a disaster! I really should have just used formula. My mom is the DCP. She has been anti-BM since day one. She believes in giving food very early on, so yes she was hungry and got solids then wouldn't take the bottle (I live about a minute down the road and was pumping when she woke up...a matter of minutes that my mom could have waited). She was hungry, there was no milk, so give food. Anyway. I got her to take a little from the bottle, but it was just bad. And then all evening she has been whiny and just fussy. Most people woulnd't care about that, but when you have dealt with as much fussy baby as I have, you are ready to slam your head into the wall. Ugh. Thanks, I guess it will just take time.
