Any tips for kids that hate nose sucking devices??

DS hates the nose bulb sucker thingy.  HATES it.  So I got a nose frieda, thinking he'd be ok since it didn't go up his nose.  nope.  This kid doesn't cry much, but when I get anything near his nose he screams and cries and thrashes around.  I thought that maybe once he realized that it was just going to be near his nose he'd be ok and calm down, but that wasn't the case. 

So, does anyone have any tips short of holding him down and having him scream bloody murder for me to get all the gunk out of his nose?

    Oh, thanks for asking this question.  I could have written this post word for word.  O cannot stand us coming near his nose.  And he's been so stuffy the last few days, he really needs it.  Strangely enough, he does not mind it when I actually pick his nose (tmi, I know!).

    I just got the nosefrida today since DD came down with a whopper cold. She doesn't like it but let me do it in little bursts, which is more than I can say for the bulb. I used saline spray in the past...it just makes it run, which is better than being congested, I guess.

    My kid hates it too and generally is very easy going. I just force her to do it.

    I have found the easiest approach is from behind. I put Taylor on the changing table and then come from over her head and hold her arms and head. It makes it a lot easier and that direction is also easier for me to use the nose frida.

    Oooh.... I'll have to try that Julie, Thx! Both my girls HATE it and it's impossible for me to suck the snot out!
