Do you pump enough in one day to send to send the following day?
If you do not, do you use a freezer stash or send formula?
I sent 5 4oz bottles to daycare today using freezer stash. I think I pumped 10 oz in total today while at work. I'm sure I sent an extra bottle today...but I'll still be 6 oz short for tomorrow.
I don't have freezer stash and LO has gotten formula before. Just curious what everyone else does and if you actually pump enough on one day to cover the next day's feedings.
Re: Pumpers...question for you.
Yes, I pump enough in two sessions (double pumping) to send with DD to my MIL's for the next day and I always leave one extra bottle (frozen) at MIL's just in case she ever needs it. DD usually eats less as the day progresses, so I leave her one 5oz bottle, one 4.5-5 oz bottle (depending on my pump output), and a 3.5-4 oz. bottle. Sometimes she takes all three in full, sometimes she leaves an ounce or two of the third bottle because she prefers to wait and nurse when I pick her up.
I'm actually in the process of starting to rotate my freezer stash now and use up all the milk I froze back in April that I didn't have in my deep freezer at first. So, on Fridays I freeze what I pump and on Monday I bring three bags of BM out of the freezer to MIL. I was so worried that my frozen milk wouldn't be good, but so far, so good.
I haven't had to use any formula at all and I really hope to not have to.
sadly i couldn't provide enough. I can only get 2 oz a session. so, pumping three times, i only got 6 oz. obviously not enough. I blew through my freezer stash in less than a month and then had to send formula. i continued to pump just to get my one daily bottle til the LO was 6 months.
i guess the only up side to having to combination feed is that i realized he does well getting BOTH breast milk and forumula. so, i am still nursing at 9 months at home, and he gets formula during the day. it's pretty convenient and easy.
I do pump enough for the next day, but at first it took 5 pumping sessions per day to keep up my supply - 1 first thing in the a.m. after feeding Sam, 3 while at work, and 1 after Sam went to bed. I was able to drop the p.m. session but still need to pump the other 4 times if I want him to have EBM. Now that he is on site at day care I can nurse him, so I can cut down on pumping as long as I make up for it by nursing him the next day.

Some days I pumped enough, other days not. On average, I probably sent 10 ounces of freezer stash a week in addition to my daily and weekend pumpings.
My pump schedule (during the week) looked like this:
5:00 am - pump (one side), 6:30 am - nurse (one side), 10:00 am - pump at work, 1:00 pm - pump at work, 3:30 pm - pump at work, 6:00 pm - pump on one side while nursing dd on the other, 8:30 pm - nurse dd before bed, 10:30 pm - pump both sides before I go to bed, nurse dd throughout the need as needed, start over again
On the weekend, I kept up with the 5:00 am, 6:00 pm and 10:30 pm pumps
It was kind of an intense pumping schedule to keep up, but it was the only way to keep dd off formula (which I was hardcore committed too). Next baby, I'm not sure if I'll be so opposed to formula. It was such a relief when dd turned 1. I didn't realize what a prisoner to the pump I was.

I pump more than I send right now. I usually send 12 - 14 oz and pump 15 - 18 oz on my workdays. On the days I do not work, I pump an extra 4-5 oz in the morning while feeding on the opposite side.
If you want to avoid supplementing with formula, I would suggest adding another session to your day. Even if you had a freezer stash, you wouldn't want to use it to regularly or your body will just produce less. Otherwise, keep supplementing and sending whatever you can pump. Some EBM is better than none!
DS takes 3-4oz bottles and I usually pump almost enough. I have my off days and then I use my freezer stash. But usually, I will sometimes pump over the weekend and then I am able to top off the bottles during the week when I fall a litte short.
What makes you think you need to send 16oz? What if you try reducing the bottles to 3oz? When DS was that age, he took 4-3oz bottles. Just an idea. GL!
Thats about how mine is
so far i've covered every day. but it's been rough. We now do formula for 'cooking' cereal and purees
