Houston Babies

really dumb monitor question...

DH and I need to buy another monitor since we took the one we had for DD#1 and moved it into DD#2's room...and now we can't hear DD#1 at all if she needs us.  We're considering a video monitor (Summer Infant Sleek & Secure with an extra camera) so we can watch both kiddos.  My question is...can you hear both of them?  How does that part work?  Can you only hear one kiddo at a time?  Will we still need to use our other monitor for one kiddo so we can hear the other on the video monitor.

Thanks!

  • As far as I know, you can't hear them both at the same time.  This is something I need to research though as we need to do the same thing.  We already have one video monitor and will be getting another for baby #2.  Curious to see if someone knows if there's some out there where you can hear both at the same time.

  • We have that monitor and I love it so far.  I don't think you can hear two at the same time.  It has a scan feature though, that goes between up to 4 cameras with each scan lasting about 8 seconds.  I was going to look at my manual for you, but I have no idea where DH put the box.  I was curious about this too, if we decide to have a #2, so I looked it up.  Here is the online manual:

  • Sorry...thought you were talking about the Slim and Secure, not the Sleek and Secure (stupid similar names) until I re-read your post.  Here is the manual for the Sleek and Secure:

  • i don't know about that model but we have the summer hand held video monitor. we keep the old graco in T's room, just so we can hear if he needs us. the video monitor is in M's room. i will tell you 1000% a video monitor is the way to go. it has made a huge difference for us in ease and knowing what's going on with M without having to go in his room and, inevitably, waking him up

  • I can't comment on life without the video monitor, but I will say that I love mine.  Cooper is a noisy sleeper so it's nice to be able to see if he's awake...or just making sleep noises.
