Guys. Peter and I both cannot thank you enough for your outpouring of Ts& Ps. We need them so bad right now. They still have no idea what's wrong with Mari. We still haven't gotten back the official official results of her bloodwork or spinal tap - cultures take time to grow, but the preliminary results look good. They did an u/s of her abdomen and an x-Ray and saw nothing out of the ordinary (besides gas). She's pooping neon green water with curdles and mucus in it (sorry TMI). Thank God, her fever broke yesterday. The most troubling of her symptoms is that she refuses to be held or picked up. This is totally put of character for her. I mean you guys know, she always refused to be put down! And now she doesn't want to be touched?! This and a few other symptoms are what lead them to originally believe she has meningitis, but the spinal fluid looked clear and without puss (thank GOD). Also, my poor baby spent about 8 hours inconsolibly crying and screaming yesterday. I mean, she has always been a bitcher, but this was just different.
if you guys can think of anything else that I can present to the doctors, please tell!! I am at a loss and everyone here is puzzled by her behavior.
please continue to pray for us. I never thought we'd ever be here - who does? I'm scared, I'm exhausted and I have a baby who is so obviously sick. I'll check in as much as i can, but admittedly, it's a lot easier for me to text or call.

My heart is absolutely breaking for you guys!!! Sending TONS of vibes that they figure out what's going on and are able to fix it right away!
I did a little peeking around online for you and excuse me if this sounds a little odd. Have they referred Mari to a pediatric GI doctor? When I put her symptoms into the symptom checker on WebMD, everything that came up pointed to GI issues - gastroenteritis, an allergy to something she ate (or was in your BM), reaction to tainted raw fruits/veggies, etc. If they haven't done that consult yet, I would insist on one ASAP, even if the attending doc doesn't think it's necessary.
What have they been feeding her in the hospital? Is she still on BM or did they change her to formula? I know a lot of moms are pro-EBF and I was as well, but perhaps a bottle of something else will help you figure out if it's something she's eating. Or on the contrary, if they put her on bottles, maybe go back to EBF and see if that works. I know when Kasey was an infant, we found out she was lactose intolerant from the constant diarrhea and screaming in pain (literally every second she was awake, she would scream. And it was a blood-curdling scream that literally would break my heart.)
I have a good friend who is a LPN and traveling nurse who has had a lot of pediatric patients. If you'd like me to get in touch with her and ask her about Mari's symptoms, just say the word.
Until then, know that you're doing EVERYTHING you can for Mari. I know it's hard to hear her scream and not be able to help. *HUGE HUGS* for you and Peter for being so strong!!! Mari sure is lucky to have you guys as parents who love and care about her so much. And if there's anything you need that I can do from Chicago, say the word and it's done. Hang in there!!!!
