Hi Ladies,
this is my first post on here. We are military and currently still in Corpus Christi (just down the road from you, lol). But we *may* be moving to Houston in 3 months or so, most likely Pearland.
As you can see from my ticker, I am expecting #2 so I started doing research on a new OBGYN. I read good things about the Woman's Place of Pearland but where would you deliver? And could you recommend some good OBs? Chairside manner is very important to me because I had some complications (pre-e) with my first one and switching providers halfway through this pregnancy is a bit unnerving.
Thanks so much!!! And I hope to be able to officially join this board soon!
Re: Pearland question
Thanks so much for your input! So in terms of delivering a baby at Woman's Hospital, it's not too far from Pearland, right? I am not used to big city traffic, so I have a hard time estimating what would be a reasonable distance.
By the way, I was also wondering if you or any other people have opinions on houses in Shadow Creek Ranch. It looks like a nice place...
Ditto this exactly. Don't be discouraged from going to the Med center for your any doctor (it's super close to Pearland and many who live in Pearland work in the Med center). My BFF drove to the Med center from The Woodlands (about an hour north of Pearland) for her OB in the same practice as Dr. Bobo.
That said, I have heard great things about Woman's Place too.
As for Shadow Creek- beautiful neighborhood. Many nesties live there- you can post on the Houston board too to get their input. I live on the west side of Pearland in Silvercreek and love that side of town.
Welcome to Houston!!!
I third the rec for Dr. Bobo! I live in Pearland and go to see her, and it's a SUPER easy and quick drive. We're literally like 10-15 minutes from the med center. It's actually probably quicker to get there from Pearland than from anywhere in town, LOL! I'm sure there are great ob/gyns here in Pearland, I just don't know of any personally.
As far as SCR, I live here and love it. We're about to move to be closer to my parents in West Houston, but not because we don't like it out here. SCR is a great neighborhood!
Thanks SO much ladies! This info is priceless to me!
I am very giddy about getting out of Corpus and moving to Houston. We can't wait!

Not too far at all. During non-commute times, you can get there in 15 minutes.
I don't live in Shadow Creek Ranch but we looked there when we were deciding where to build. It's a very nice neighborhood!
I go to Dr. Swaim with Houston Womens Care Associates. She sees patients one afternoon at Woman's Place. She's in the same practice as Dr. Miller (mentioned above). She is a perfect fit for me b/c she's very straight-forward but still very caring. However, I would not say she's touchy-feely, so depending on what you like, she may not be for you. I delivered at Women's Hospital and had a great experience. Not hard to get the med center from Pearland. In fact, I usually went to the med center for appointments so I could get a morning appointment.
I live in SCR and we love it. We both work so it's a great place to commute from. The only drawback in my opinion is possibly the schools. It's zoned to Alvin ISD instead of Pearland ISD. I think the latest rankings showed Pearland as slightly better. However, I would expect based on the socio-economic make-up of the residents in SCR, the schools will continue to improve.
Dr. Swaim was the on-call OB when I went into labor with DD#1. I really like her.
I also see Dr. Jonna Miller at Houston Women's Care. Love her! Getting to Woman's Hospital from Pearland is very easy. A lot of people that live in Pearland/Shadow Creek work in the med center because it's the closest community for them. We love it here.
