Hi there I am 25 yrs old, in pretty good health... My boyfriend and I want to start a family... I stopped taking the pill LAST september...It will be one year soon and nothing.. I have been on BC since i was 18 and have avoided the possibility of being a mom like the plague and now that I (we) are ready in our relationship and financially... no luck. My sister got off bc in december and by feb. she was pregnant! What is wrong with me!? I know that my uterus is tilted/ retroverted, could that be a factor? My cycles are perfect every 30 days, I know 5 days before my periods starts because i get pms symptoms... So i know my cycles are regular and I have timed the times to have sex when I would be ovulating.. I'm just confused, I thought this would be easy, I just never once thought that I could have any trouble with this and I just don't even know where to start. I feel like I can't even talk with my mother or sister about it because they have never had a problem like this, I guess I feel a little alone and lost and completely confused.. =(
Re: New at TTC and very confused =(
I'm no help with the uterus thing, but I'm curious as to what you're going to know when you O/timed sex right?
~after 34 cycles we finally got our 2nd little bundle of joy~
My IF blog
Everyone is going to recommend that you chart to make sure you are even ovulating. I wish I would have began this the first period I had off the birth control pill. Now, going into month 7 (starting to chart this cycle), I am fairly sure I have anovulatory cycles (have had only 2 cycles since December), but without temping and charting, I would have never known what was going on with my body on my own. I'm just learning as well. These ladies here KNOW what they are talking about.
ETA: Forgot to say welcome and good luck!
well, you've come to the right place
though it can take a healthy couple up to a year to get PG, i too, would be very frustrated after 8 months.
how do you know when you ovulate? if you're trying around day 14, you could be way off, even using OPKs could lead to imperfect timing. many many women DO NOT ovulate on day 14. in fact, with 30 day cycle, i'd assume you O between day 16 and 20. charting your temps and cervical fluid is the only way to know (without blood tests) that/when you are ovulating. i suggest reading the book "taking charge of your fertility" and checking out the website Fertilityfriend.com (click the ticker in my or anyone's signature to get there.)
read this to get info about this board https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/31027678.aspx ,andlurk round here, read many, many posts and you will learn a lot.
good luck!
Definitely!
I mean, coming up on a year, it wouldn't be unreasonable to move on to an RE to check everything out (this includes tests for both you AND your SO).
Still, one easy step in figuring everything out is to start by pinpointing when you ovulate by charting, since if you ovulate later than you think you do, maybe your timing has been wrong all this time.
Edited to clarify.
Bump burp!
seriously, get thee to a library and check out TCOYF! those predictors are crap! everyone ovulates at a different time in their cycle. they could be right for you, but it would only be coincidence. there is a fertilityfriend app you should replace it with! ConnCottage is right, you could go get checked out when you hit the year mark, but a timing issue is seriously the easiest/cheapest one to fix.
Websites and apps are essentially just guessing, but temping/charting will really help you get to know your body and help you pinpoint your O date. That and maybe throw in some OPKs - it couldn't hurt. I've read so much about it, and I can't wait to start my next period! Wow, that sounds weird.
Cycle 21 BFP 2-26 with Clomid, Novarel, and Prometrium, EDD 11-5; missed M/C 4-6, D & C 4-9
That is 100% worthless. Even with a "perfect" 30 day cycle you can O on different days. Click on my ticker and sign up for Fertility Friend (it is free) and chart that way. Much more accurate
I think what you are talking about is a Ovulation Calculator, which is not as accurate because it is not personalized. Charting at Fertility Friend - you have to take your Basal Body Temp every morning and it charts your cycle, when you see your temp shift...it pinpoint O. I hope this helps you...it might also be some good evidence to take to a doctor, should it come to that. Good luck!!
Are you just noticing CM (or a lack thereof) by checking externally on your undies or when you wipe? Most people find much more CM when they check internally.
To learn how, and to learn all about charting your basal body temperature to pinpoint your ovulation date, check out these tutorials, they're great: https://www.fertilityfriend.com/courses/past.php (you may need to create a free account to see, I'm not sure).
Edit: I can't type tonight and feel a compulsive need to correct my spelling and/or grammar errors.
Oh sweetie, AF is a whore. She plays with your emotions and she just sucks. Your questions and concerns are completely normal - I had no idea about most of this stuff until I joined here, but the ladies here really know their stuff and are extremely helpful! I would definitely check out the FF tutorial that ConnCottager recommended about about CM/CF. Super helpful! Good luck to you!

This... I had some bloodwork and an intrauterine ultrasound done before trying to conceive because I have uterine septum and they wanted to confirm it wouldn't cause issues in TTGP. From those scans, they determined that I have a tilted uterus but I was told by my Dr that it shouldn't cause any difficulties in conceiving. Definitely follow these ladies advice and ready TCOYF and start temping at least- it will give you MOUNTAINS of information. GL!
