Moms of multiples, please come in.

Did you find out right away whether your babies are identical or fratenal?  I was in such shock at my appt, I didn't think to ask.

  • they couldn't tell with ours in the u/s so we are out of luck right now.  They said it could be either.

  • The only way you'll know they're IDs in utero is if they're in the same sac. Otherwise, you'll have to wait till they're born & opt for a DNA test (obviously only if they're the same sex).

    I only saw one sac at the 1st u/s but of course I can't be sure.  I think I'm going to call and ask them more about the u/s report tomorrow.

  • My doctor guessed fraternal, he was measuring SOMETHING in there that said he sees that a lot in fraternals but he couldn't be sure, like the other poster we'll know more when we find out the genders and if they're the same, have a DNA test
  • They told me at my NT scan that they were identical because they're sharing the same placenta (2 different sacs though).
  • They told me at the second u/s. I have MoDi twins. One placenta, 2 amniotic sacs. So they are identical.
