So with everyone giving up soda or limiting themselves to only one due to caffeine amounts.... am I doing something wrong? I am still drinking soda but I bought caffeine free and alternate glasses of caffeine free soda or juice with water (a glass of water for every glass of something else).... is caffeine free soda not really caffeine free?? Should I not be drinking it??

Re: Soda
I am eating and drinking a lot healthier since the BFP - mostly milk and juice alternating with water - but I went stark raving mad and bought a 2 liter of caffeine free dt pepsi today.... I am not concerned about weight gain... My diet pre-pregnancy consisted of pizza, mac n cheese and soda or beer.... so everything I have been eating/drinking since is MUCH healthier! LOL
As for dairy - a couple glasses of milk a day - cheese on my sandwiches and I start the day with yogurt.... so not really worried bout not making my food groups...
OP- Our pre-pregnancy diet sounds quite similar!
I have basically given up soda (diet pepsi or caffeine free diet pepsi), especially for a special treat. The artificial sweetener is something I'm worried about and have tried to cut out as much as possible.
I've had some diet sprite since getting my BFP and 1 caffeine free diet coke. I've mostly been drinking water and a little milk and juice. I figure once the school year starts back, I'm going to want/need a little caffeine, so I'm trying to avoid it for now. I'm hoping that if I don't have it for the few weeks leading up to school starting back, I won't want/need it as badly then.
It's actually not be hard at all. I thought it would be really difficult to give up my 44 oz. fountain diet coke each day, but it's like my mind and body are in a totally different place now that I know I am pregnant.
ETA: Most of the sources I've read so far have said 200-300 mg of caffeine a day is ok. I will ask my doctor her opinion when I see her.
I gave up buying soda and juice since I can't stand lugging it into the house, but I'm sort of lazy like that
I also don't want it in the house because of all of the sugar, corn syrup etc.
I feel like I'm constantly thirsty so I drink a lot of water. Last time I was pregnant all I wanted was giant glasses of milk and we've always got that on hand.
Everything I've read says try to avoid caffeine in the 1st tri. so I guess caffeine free would be ok. All of the other ingredients however bother me.
I have had maybe 1 or two caffeine free since finding out, one being a ginger ale. I don't usually even drink the whole can, so I am not that concerned about it, but I'm not a big soda drinker and have been trying to go with mostly water.
If I've wanted a little pick-me up, I've eaten 1 small piece of dark chocolate, like a dove candy piece, but I just read that it may not be great either because of the caffeine. I think in comparison though, 5-15mg a day (if I even have anything), compared with up to 300mg, is a drop in the bucket.
