I constantly feel upset and overwhelmed! i feel like i want to cry all the time! i love my son very much but sometimes i don't feel like i want to play with him to get things done around the house....i feel like i snap at my DH all the time and i have been finding myself getting upset with my son when he does not want to eat his food when he has been eating it all along....
Re: Do I have it?
My first question would be: Are you getting enough sleep? Do you have enough help with the baby? It's easy to get frustrated especially around feeding times...you just have to remind yourself that he knows how much he can eat at one time...so when he's done he's done. At this point he should be getting most of his nutrition from formula or BM. Eating is for practice...
If you feel like you may loose it all the time...then yes you may have PPD. It's normal to feel overwhelmed and sometimes take it out on someone closest to you (dh) but crying all the time...might be an issue. Call you OB/Gyn and make an appt to talk to him/her. GL and hope you feel better soon!
I had similar problems after DS was born. I would have terrible mood swings and get angry at DH for no reason. I finally called my OB and was prescribed Zoloft and talked with a therapist a few times. i wish I had called sooner.
I didn't call earlier because everything I had read about PPD was about crying and not being able to get things done around the house which wasn't my problem. My therapist actually pointed out that PPD manifests in so many different ways in different people. Depression in children actually manifests as anger. Apparently, I had "childlike" PPD
Your doctor isn't going to laugh at you or tell you you shouldn't have come in. At the very least, voicing all of your frustration might be enough to make you feel better. Perhaps, your doctor can recommend a new mom support group, a therapist, or prescribe some medicine.
I hope you feel better soon!
