Eat, Pray, Love (book vs. movie)

I read Eat, Pray, Love for a book club.  Actually I read most of it, I read all of Eat, some of Pray and some of Love.  I really did not enjoy the book after Eat and was amazed that it became such a best seller (IMO).

BUT... The movie looks really good.  I love Julia.  I may have to check it out.  It could be a weird situation where the movie is better than the book. 

Any thoughts?

    I tried to read this book on our vacation a couple of weeks ago because I really want to see the movie.  I love Julia Roberts and the movie trailers look good.  I always like to read the book before I see the movie, however, I could NOT get into the book at ALL.  I will still see the movie.

    I haven't read it, but my SIL tried and said she couldn't get into it either.  I almost always think the book version is better than the movie version, so if it's something I'm really interested, I will always read the book first.  In this case, I may skip both.

    I liked the book and the movie looks great! I agree this could be the one time out of a hundred where the movie is better than the book. Can't wait to see it!

    I feel like I'm the only person who looooved that book! LOL.  I thought it was awesome, and I'm curious to see the movie.  I don't generally like movie adaptations of books, so I don't have super high hopes - but we'll see.
