Diaper burn? Please help!

I don't know what to do - A has 2 red spots on his bottom.  Not like diaper rash, but sort of raised red big ovals - not on the anus, but further out sort of near the leg, but not as far as where the diaper is.  He freaks out being changed now - like bad.  I think they have gotten worse.  I have been putting A&D on and it seems to hurt him.  They aren't big open sores, but look bad.  We tried no diaper and after a poop and 2 pees on the floor we would like him diapered if possible.  I did a baking soda bath last night and nothing seems to help.  Please help!!!  What do I do?

Are you using Pampers with Dry Max? If so stop using them immediately. Some kids are just fine but there are many families reporting diaper burn with them.

this. get yourself some puppy pads and keep him as diaper free as possible.

then switch diapers. 7th gen makes fantastic 'sposies.

also - get him into the Dr on monday. If you've got burn cream or neosporin try some of that instead of the A&D.

    I'm so sorry!

Ditto this! If you aren't then I have found keeping the area as dry  as possible helps, baby powder is what I prefer since he tends to get it more on the leg than his butt. Baking soda in the bath at night helps Riley too. It does however take a while for it to clear. Sad Just change him often and keep it dry.

  • We started getting these too and I use Huggies Pull-ups. Another mom from my mom group had the same complaint so I think that they must have changed their formula as well. We changed brands to Earth's Best because that was the only one we could find without chemical (well they all technically have them) but the problem went away after. Pampers training diapers did the same thing. But it stinks because those were our choices for training diapers. We're in the middle of potty training.

A warm bath is always soothing on an angry booty too. Just skip the soap so it doesn't dry it out more.

Nope, we aren't - I was worried that maybe my husband had used the free samples of dry max, but they are the old pampers cruisers that he has used for soooo long.  Maybe he was in a diaper too long at daycare :(

     Thanks for the suggestions ladies!

  • I thought she said that it wasn't under the diaper??? Did I miss-read?  I probably did.

No advice though - I would call the advice nurse though.

Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

  • Triple Paste is like a miracle cream. Try that instead of the A&D.

All of the big commercial diapers have  sodium polyacrylate in them that absorb the pee. Including 7th Gen. The only disposable I have found without it is Tushies.

  • I would try butt paste, or triple cream, and also  a little hydrocortisone 0.5% for a day or two only. It doesn't sound like yeast, so that should be ok, but I would definitely call the dr to take a look at it, make sure it's not a bacterial infection.
