my 3yr old wont stop acting like a dog

it was cute, then annoying, now she is licking my 1yr old. we like to let her imagination do its thing however....its GROSS!!!

we do the usual dogs arent allowed at the dinner table when we need her to quit so she can eat or dogs arent allowed in gmas house, because they dont think its so cute....but is this a phase or what can we do to stop it??

  • I am sure its just a phase.  My DD is currently 'eating' everything and everyone by, most of the time, pretend biting it and says I eat you or I eat ____. Hasnt really been that cute of a trick either :)

  • my 2 year old likes to act like a cat and a dog, it is not all the time.  But she does like to try to lick you.  I think it is just a phase,  I think she will grow out of it,  I would just keep up on the no dog at the table thing.

  • Yeah my daughter is licking everyone also.  Sometimes she throws food on the floor on purpose just to eat like a dog. It's gross, but I'm sure they'll grow out of it quickly...well let's hope!

I really do hope its a phase b/c my son also does the same thing.  He throws food on the floor an eats it, runs around barking like him.  It kills me and Im so scared he's going to start doing it outside the house.  My son is 2...I hope he growa out of it before he goes to preschool.
  • DS did this for awhile, like a few months! It was funny at first but he did start barking at people when out for walks, even at daycare...embarassing! I even caught him drinking out of the dog bowl a few times and trying to eat our dog's food (I have video of this stuff for his first gf, lol) He was doing the licking as well, puppy kisses he called it.  He was constantly trying to lick his baby brother's head/hair and our faces.  He just stopped, it seemed like overnight.  We tried to ignore it if we could and did the same "no doggies at the table or in the restaurant" etc.  thank goodness it went away on it's own and I hope it doesn't come back, lol.
  • oh thank goodness im not the only one!!! good to know it stopped fairly quick for most of you. :)
