When did you start putting milk/formula in a cup?

She does great with a sippy with water but I still send her to daycare with BM bottles. Time to start using sippies for milk?

I don't see why? They drink more efficiently from a bottle so I would continue with that. Babies should drink from a bottle until 1 year, after that it might start to interfere with oral development.

I should add, unless the baby refuses bottles for some reason.

I totally disagre w/ pp. The sooner the better. According to the nurse at our WIC office, the longer you wait the more stubborn your LO will become and the harder it is to get rid of the bottle. They reccomend that all babies be off the bottle by their 1st b-day if not before. Go ahead and try it and see how it goes. You can always pour it into a bottle if they refuse to drink from a cup. At least they gradually get used to milk in a cup.

I respectfully disagree w/PP as well. It is easier to get a late infant to try sippies/straw cups for everything rather than a set-in-their-ways toddler.

DD has played with sippies since 3 months, switched to straw cups at 9 months.

A friend of mine her DS goes to PT to help him eat (sucking reflex issue i think) anyhooo... her PT told her that sippy cups are not as good as straw cups and they prefer LOs use straw cups. It strengthend the cheek muscles and helps with pronunciation once LO starts talking. Just an FYI
