1st Trimester

Alright 2nd + time mommies, let's talk about the positive birthing stuff...

Who else is looking forward to the mesh panties????  Damn those things were amazing.  I'm totally buying more of them when I leave the hospital next time.  I didn't get enough at the hospital.

I also had kind of a sick love for the ginormo-ice pads.  I wanted to cry when they told me to try to use the regular ones.  The ice ones helped so much!

  • Since I'm having this one at home, I am making sure that I order some mesh panties online.  I don't think you could survive the first few days PP without them.  :)
  • haha yes! The mesh panties!  I still have a handful that I took from the hospital last time.

  • I hated the mesh panties - maybe because the only ones they had were falling off of me.  I did love the ice pack pads though - those are pretty genius!
  • You can BUY mesh panties online????  Holy crap.  Why didn't I know this the last time around???!!

This is an excellent idea.  I don't speak from experience, but I have heard great things about the mesh panties.  You can also make your own frozen pads soaked with aloe, witch hazel, and other goodies.

  • This is great to know about the panties - they were great.  I'm thinking of delivering at a birthing center this time around so will check out ordering them online.  Thanks for the tip, adamwife!
  • Yes I'm swiping more mesh panties this time amongst other things. I felt like a thief taking all the diapers and supplies last time, but not this time.  I think I will also take advantage of letting the baby hang out in the nursery when I need my sleep.

  • Did anyone get some of that spray that numbs the whole area. I totally forget what it is called, but it is like a spray lidocaine. Oh, it felt so good!
  • First timer here... what are mesh panties? They don't sound comfy!!

I totally sported Depends after #2's homebirth. so much better than fiddling with a pad!

I couldn't imagine how something like that could be comfy...but man they are.  Amazing, amazing things!  This is essentially them: https://www.amazon.com/Mesh-Pants-size-Medium-case/dp/B000Q7FQS8/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1280604515&sr=8-4

And to the PP, isn't that stuff Dermoplast?  Man, that stuff is freaking awesome, too.  I bought more after I got home.  You can just get it at Walgreens.

Still love that thing for regular AF clean up/maintenance.  LOL!  Definitely one item to bring home with you.  The mesh undies were great post c/s too.

OMG that stuff burned the hell out of me!!  I literally screamed in the bathroom when I used it in the hospital.  DH ran in cause I freaked him out.  God I will stay far far away from that stuff this time.

Am I the only one who HATED the mesh panties?  Sorry, but just not comfy at all.  I wore my own underwear as soon as I was able to shower (the next morning) and never had a problem with bleeding leakage.  I also brought my own pads (Always infinity) because they were much more comfortable also.  Poo on hospital stuff.
  • I loved the mesh, but hated the bulky pads and ice packs.  They were so big to sit on that I felt like all the pressure went on the exact place I didn't want it!

I am looking forward to stealing as many of those silicone gel boob pads as I can.  I hoarded them last time!  I still have a leftover ice pack and one of those puppy pads for the bed, plus my peri bottle.

I am mostly excited about not being in total shock when I have my baby....obviously I knew he was coming and adored him, but for a few days I think it all felt like a dream.  I think it's going to be very different this time around!

  • The mesh undies, although mine were just a really thin cotton, LOVED them. Tucks pads were a lifesaver to line the jumbo pads with. At my hospital they cut a slit in the end of a baby diaper and filled it with ice for me to sit on after delivery... awesomeness!

we had the ice filled baby diapers too... so nice!  i loved the mesh undies as well. i just hung out in those and a nursing tank the whole time i was in the hospital, all modesty went out the door.  this all kinda makes me cringe though and a bit scared for next time.  i hope i don't get as torn up as i did with #1!

  • I didn't get to take home any mesh undies with me and everytime I went for clean up, literally every 15-20 minutes (lots of PP bleeding) I kept wishing that I had some.  One nurse brought me in one of those ice pads things, which felt amazing.  I asked for another the next day and some other nurse brought me an ice PACK instead, oh holy crow that was the worst thing.

Dermoplast!!!!! :D I LOVED the dermoplast. I made the nurse bring me an extra bottle of it I could bring home. STill have the rest of it in fact, use it on particularly itchy mosquito bites. ;)

I loved the whole thing! :) The labor and birth went beautifully. The mesh panties were *angels singing*. And the peri bottle was nice but wouldve been much nicer had I not had to stand there for 5 minutes waiting for water to warm (damn me if Im using cold water!). :/

Im planning a homebirth for this baby though- uncharted territory for me, but Im excited! :D
