This is the worst goddamn show I've ever seen. It's completely staged and phony, and the two sisters who own the bakery might be the two biggest douchenozzles I've ever laid my eyes on.
A show about cupcakes should be awesome. This is pissing me off on so many levels.
Re: DC Cupcakes on TLC
Seriously. I had to turn it off, I was getting so annoyed. It is SO staged, with bad acting at that!! "Hey, did you guys try that caramel candy? Yum!" ::facepalm::
It's awful. And all it did was make me want chocolate ganache. Damn you, DC Cupcakes!!!
Soko, do you like Cupcake Wars?
Cupcake Wars? Why have I never heard of this??
Broomhead, tell me more....
This is EXACTLY what I was going to say. Omg a cupcake sounds amazing! Times like this I wish DH was home so he could stay home with DS while I went to get one. Urgh.
Whaaaaaa---?? You have not heard of Cupcake Wars?? Girl....
It's on Food Network. It starts out with 4 teams of two cupcake bakers, and each episode has a different client, along with two regular judges. First round: they have a big table full of food that the represents the client's tastes, and they have to choose two or three of the flavors and make one yummy cupcake. Loser is out. Round two is judged 50% on flavor and 50% on presentation, and the remaining teams each have to make three cupcakes that fit the theme of whatever gala the client is throwing (for example, one was a golf tournament, one was a movie festival, etc.). Losing team gets the boot. The two final teams have to make 1,000 of their cupcakes (all four flavors they made in the previous rounds) and build a giant display that goes along with the theme. It's one of my new favorite shows. Totally addictive. It's on on Tuesday nights, just before Chopped.
my read shelf:
Talk about annoying..as someone who lived just about a block aways from Carlos Bakery (The Cake Boss) before he had the show talk about annoying. He not only doubled his prices but now there are lines around the block just to get into the bakery. We no longer live there but still go into Hoboken all the time. He does do nice work don't get me wrong but the majority of people i know aren't going to pay tons of thousands of dollars for a cake like that.
and a bonus, there were 4 dozen cupcakes left over from the reception!
