If you have more than one car, how many car seats do you have?
I'm wondering whether I should buy a spare while Britaxes are on sale. It could be shared between DH and our parents' cars when Adrian travels in a vehicle other than mine. Or do you just swap the seat from car to car when necessary? The Marathon is kind of bulky, so that might not be best.
TIA!
Re: How many car seats do you have?
we have 2. I think it is kind of necessary because DH drops Jack off and I pick up from daycare... although I see some infant/convertible/booster seats left in the lobby of the center everyday so I guess some people share.
My (compact) car is difficult to climb into and get a safe install done so I can't imagine doing it regularly. DH and my parents' cars are bigger and easier so I can see how that wouldn't be as big of an issue.
if you can afford it and you use DH's car often enough (we like the convenience of being able to take either car) then I think it is worth it.
for right now we only plan on having one, but with a base in my car & DH's. My parents have my nephew's that they are going to put back in their car (he is only 3 & I know it was never in an accident). And while I appreciate that I am being overly paranoid, baby can't get in DH's parents' cars...they have a convertible & a recalled Toyota. So whenever they have baby, one of us will just have to switch cars with them. ( i know ridiculous, but I can't help it!)
I can see the use of having two complete car seats if DH is picking up & I am dropping off, but I would probably wait to purchase 2 when I know baby will be in a car seat for a little longer (is it the convertible one they use after they outgrow the infant seat)
yes... I should have mentioned that.
we have only used convertible seats from the beginning. Jack wasn't allowed to ride in DH's jeep so we didn't get a second seat until DH got a new car.
My parents have a seat for their house (and b/c they are the daycare emergency contacts). They know how to install it into both of their cars but choose not to keep it in 24/7 at this point because they would use it so rarely.
We have one Graco32 and one base installed in our CRV. We have two additional bases, BNIB because my mom wanted one for her car and we wanted one for our Accord. Well, we NEVER needed them. So now we have them and its too late to return them. We're keeping them for the next baby, just in case.
We'll need to get a regular carseat soon and want the Britax Marathon (since it's rated well for taller babies, which we have) and will just get one, for the CRV, since that's the car we use to take her out and about in...

we only have one infant seat right now and will probably only have one convertible carseat. partly b/c DH's car is 2 doors, i think. if he gets another car and it is 4 door then we may get a 2nd. but from birth until now we have done ok with only 1 so i think we'll continue w/just one until the need arises.
sorry, i guess i should have posted the other day when the boulevards were $124-132 (and marathons $112) in the private sale at fao.com - i posted on my FB page but didn't get around to coming to this board to post

Aw, didn't see it on FB. Oh well. I'm gonna just assume shipping would've been very expensive since FAO charges extra for Hawaii.
I paid $195 on Amazon and they have free returns for now, too... in case we change our mind. And I was able to get Cowmooflage, which wasn't on sale when I got the last one!
I don't know if the pricing applies in-store but online, Target has the Cowmooflage for $169.99, but they do charge you tax and shipping (comes out to be around $185 here).
I only saw the Roundabout... no Marathon. Plus, Target won't ship the seat to Hawaii. Diapers.com won't ship here either, and places like BRU charge monster shipping surcharges. Boo. No super deals for me.
that sucks that they won't ship or charge hefty surcharges for shipping to hawaii...... but i guess that is the price you pay for getting to live in paradise
i would gladly trade places w/you
