Re: Clicky for Moms of 2+

  • Mine were not the same and I had the same gender.

Might of been because Im so teeny, Im not sure, but my second was a lot more strenuous on my body, PLUS mine were only 19mos apart, so that might be a factor also.  With M I craved Soda...tons and tons of anything carbonated!  and with A, I ate ice like NO TOMORROW!!

Other then more painful, and feeling SO MUCH lower, SO MUCH faster...the rest was the same.

  • I have different genders.  My pregnancies were more similar than different, but there were a couple big differences that I think were related to the gender or personality of my kids.  Here goes:

--with DD, I always wanted sour and spicy foods, like chili or sour candies.  Anything strong flavored would do.  With DS I was noticeably more hungry for MEAT than I normally am when not pg.

--DD hiccupped a lot, mostly at night, and this kept me awake.  DS hiccupped a bit, but not that much.  She is much more prone to hiccups than he is.

--with DD, I gained 41 pounds. With DS, I gained barely 30, and lost it very quickly.

Finally, here's a difference that I don't think was related to gender, but just a normal difference between 1st and 2nd pregnancies:

--with DD I had sciatic nerve pain pretty badly.  By week 39, I could barely go up and down stairs.  With DS, I carried him lower and seemed bigger even though I gained less -- but there was no sciatica, probably because he was in a different position.  He gave me a totally different set of stretch-marks, though!

  • their heartrates at each check up were the same ... early on I'd look to compare, but they were the exact same reading!

dd- i could not look at meat.  couldn't stand it.  I spent the first tri eating wheat thins and cream cheese, then craved clementines a lot.  wanted spicy foods in the 2nd half

ds- bad m/s for a few weeks, then I just couldn't get enough of cheeseburgers and brownies?

dd- I was exhausted the entire pg, had trouble working out.   was able to keep up with my aerobics class in the 2nd tri about 17wks to until about 26 or 27wks

ds-worked out through most of it.

dd-i carried high and out.  gained well over 40lb (much of it was swelling)

ds-i carried high and out but gained a bit more in the butt. gained a little over 30lb, did swell a good bit the last week. so may have reached 35lb

dd-had many complications,  a heart arrhythmia,  s/s of preeclampsia popped up by early 3rd tri, developed severe pree, induced at 36w5d, delivered at 37w0d, pree worsened the 1st week post partum and took 6wks to recover to a normal yet slightly higher b/p for me, felt braxton hickes early but not regular , not painful , just shocking. around 24wks

ds- felt great the entire pg, 37wks 2d, nose bleed, s/s mild pree, induced and delivered at 38w2d, s/s gone with delivery. felt episodes of  braxton hickes starting around 30wks ... they would go every 5-7min for a few hours, but never worsened, tougher to stay hydrated with a toddler running around in the summer heat.

  • My girl pregnancies were the same and my boy pregnancy was different.  Macy was a "surprise" but I was 99.9% sure she was a girl.

With the girl pregnancies I had morning sickness the entire time and had to take meds.  I didn't gain very much weight and felt horrible the entire time.

  • w/ ds#1 i was sick all day everyday until he came. had bad back pain and was so exhausted the whole time. w/ ds#2 I had some queassiness for a few weeks in the first tri but by second tri it was gone. ds#2 was a breeze until my bp started creeping up. so mine were pretty much as opposite as you can get but they were still the same gender.

  • All three of mine were almost identical - same cravings, carried the same, same morning sickness, gained about the same amount of weight, everything except more heartburn and such with each progressive PG.  I honestly wasn't 100% convinced DS was a boy until he came out.  We were so sure we were having a girl we had them check again at every u/s (I get a bunch in the third tri due to growth troubles).  The u/s tech thought I was nuts...

Um, they were a bit different in parts.  DD I had horrible nausea the first tri that would be a few days bad, couple good days, back to the bad.  DS was guerilla nausea that would sneak up on me and having me running for the toilet (never puked with either).  Different cravings and aversions.  Sensitive to smell with DS but not as much with DD.  Biggest difference was the pre-term labor contractions I had with DS that had me on terb for a while.  In the very beginning and beginning of second tri, pretty much the same though.
