Trouble TTC

Beta results today... and I have ?'s

The nurse from RE's office just called with my beta results from today - 12.2.  I sort of freaked out a bit, I didn't know what to think.  Had to ask her what that meant, she said 'yes, it means you are pregnant."

That said, she mentioned that I shouldn't tell people yet (not that I was planning to) and to wait and see what my follow up on Monday shows.

So of course, I went to POAS, Looks like a BFN to me, maybe the slightest pink line next to the control.  I don't know what to think...

According to Dr. Google, 12.2 is really, really low.  According to FF and CBEFM, I am 15DPO today.  I have lots of pg symptoms, but I've been chalking those up to the 100mg of progesterone twice a day. Oh, and I'm supposed to up that to 3 times per day now.

Can someone help me understand all this?

Thanks!

Edited to add my history: 37 and TTC for 1 year, lots of issues from short LP, weak ovulation, uterine polyps, and pre-cancerous cells. This was my 2nd Clomid cycle.

  • That does sound a little low but it more matters what the number is at your next beta.  The doubling rate is what's important.  You may not be as many dpo as you think, or you have a slow responder, or something like that.  I'll be praying for a great number on Monday!  Good luck.

Edit:  Don't want to sound like a debbie downer... cause you are pregnant!  And Reb's right... its just too low for an HPT to pick it up right now.  :)  Congrats!!

  • First off congrats!  That beta is pretty low but it really only matters if your number doubles with your next beta.  Because your beta is so low you will probably not be able to see a + HPT right now.  Test again tomorrow or Sunday with FMU.

    GL!

  • Hey hon. The 12.2 is really low. Did they tell you what number they begin to consider a positive beta? I know this sounds stupid, but my friend's doc says 7 and mine says 25. They are all different. I've seen low betas work out before, but it looks like cautious is the way to go. All that matters is that that number practically doubles every two days.

I'll be sending you lots of prayers hon.

Oh yeah, I'm being cautious!  Honestly, all I can do right now is worry why it's low.  I don't know whether or not to tell anyone, even DH.  He has finals on Monday & Tuesday next week and I want him to pass so he can get a job!  I'm afraid to tell him and then it be bad news on Monday. Can I trust that my DPO is correct?  What's a "late responder?"

Thanks to you ladies for your warm well wishes and answers.

How are you determining your O date?  Did you trigger ovulation with meds?

  • First off, congratulations! That is a low number, but like everyone else has said, it's most important that it doubles in 48-72 hours. Did they give you progesterone levels by chance?

As for telling your husband, I would. I just went through a chemical pregnancy last cycle and I can't imagine going through that without my husband knowing. Of course I hope your situation is the opposite of mine :) but you just never know. My husband would be pissed at me if I didn't tell him what was going on. Your nurse was probably referring to telling other people, other than your H.

    good luck!

My RE says anything above 5 is pregnant; and I believe most HPT's pick up anything 25+...  That may be why your line is so light/not visable.

Congrats - and let us know about your repeat beta!

    Good luck!

  • I'm using both BBT (FF chart - if I can figure out how to link it below) and CBEFM.  My temps went from cover line of 97.9 to 98.5 15 days ago.  I'm not sure how accurate that all may be since I was on 100mg of Clomid CD3-7. No trigger or anything.

Your O date should be pretty accurate if you are charting.  Try not to worry and good luck with your next beta!
