TTC After a Loss

Metformin vs. Metformin ER

Did you experience the same symptoms, just to a lesser extent? I was on regular Met and had bad GI issues and started to get nauseas at night and in the mornings. It got so bad I couldn't eat too much and would gag to the point of dry heaving.

I'm working on keeping carbs out of my diet as much as I can, but we're a bread and pasta family, so it's difficult.

  • Mine have gone away after the first month.
  • I took both and the symptoms were about the same until I got used to it.  The XR was nice because I could take all the pills at once.

  • I had to switch to the ER because I was so sick on the regular Met. It still took me a few days to get used to the ER, but it was much better! My RE had me start taking one 750mg pill per night for 3 nights and then he had me begin taking the 2nd one on day 4 for a total of 1500mg.
