DS will only drink his milk out of a soft spout sippy so we have 4 of those. In my quest to find a sippy he would use, I have about 4 different hard spout ones and a straw one that I use for water that he'll drink from...just won't drink his milk from them.
I use to have 7 sippies that DS loves. We lost one at Walmart and could not find it. We use 3 sippies a day for DS but first we put water and then milk for every meal at home. If we go out we may take another sippy. I am thinking we may need another 2.
I have another 6 sippies with characters on them but DS does not like them too much.
We have been using the straw cups for a while, DD has 2. I highly recommend this straw cup. The straw is so much easier to clean than the skinny Munchkin straws!
We have about 8-10 in the cabinet, but probably go through 2-3 a day. One always has water in it. Then we start out with just one for milk but it will either get lost or get left out too long then we have to start another one.
We don't have sippies anymore, but DS uses a cup in the am for oj, different ones for milk at each meal and one throughout the day for water. So 5 cups per day.

exactly this!
this logic makes sense to me
i guess i was assuming i'd wash milk sippy after each use. so, you just stick it back in the fridge to keep it safe?
We have about 6 of the hard spout gerber sippys that are in rotation. She would bite the nipples off the soft spout ones and they would stop being spill proof.

This but probably have more than 10. I'd rather have more and not have to wash so often.
We do one with milk and one with water per day, plus a spout cup (the others have straws) in the crib at night.
All told we have ... 2 Munchkin flip and sip, 6 Playtex flip and sip (4 reg, 2 insulated), 1 Nuby thick straw flip and sip, one random Target bunny cup, one random turtle cup from JCPenny, 4 Gerber spout cups for the crib (though one is MIA)(2 reg, 2 insulated), and one random stainless steel insulated one that my parents got that we very rarely use since it leaks like mad when he tilts it.
Contemplating the snow.

They each have one for milk and one for water. I just wash the sippy as soon as they are done so it is ready for the next meal. I did just buy one more for each of them so I can start rotating them.

For our two kids, we have a total of six Munchkin straw cups and two Playtex twist n click straw cups. Most days we use a total of four (one milk and one water sippy per kid).
Re: how many sippy cups do you have in rotation?
I think we have 5 at home and 2 that rotate for daycare..
I would just get more of the same type of sippy, if they like it!

why are straw cups better? less mess? easier transition to regular cups?
