is it true that chugging glass of beer increases milk flow?? r u serious? and that a tequila drink is okie to have when Bfing?? The episode before it was nice to see them like a normal family...but this episode was a turn off. I thought she was just being like the other rich and famous- drinking beer while Bfing, going on a date night, travelling out of town leaving her little one alone....all because she can afford a 24/7 nurse.
Re: anyone watch Bethanny....
I've heard the yeast in beer can actually help with supply. But I don't know how true that really is.
And, you can have a drink while breastfeeding without harming the baby.
My Ob told me to chug a beer a day to help with clogged ducts and increase milk. I don't know if it worked because I HATE BEER! Why couldn't it be wine? Wine I like:)
What is Bethanny?

interesting to learn about the yeast/beer effect...I never knew!!
I agree at the importance of date nights etc, but it just doesnt sound something that average working -class parents would get along to doing a week or two after the child is born. Not that it makes them bad parents or anything , but I think that would be the last thing that comes to ones mind - is to have some "alone time". Maybe I will have a changed opinion in a months time!! LOL....
I agree with babsy, why is wine not okie!!:( I hate beer!! but a skinny girl maragarita would be welcome!!;)
Yes, it's called Bethenny Getting Married. It chronicled the time leading up to her wedding and baby and ends next week. I hope they have another season - I really like her and though I like Real Housewives, it's nice to have a show that doesn't constantly involve stupid bickering between the main characters.
THis!! I havn't watched it on my DVR yet (was watching Boston MEd but that also made me cry). But in my breastfeeding class I asked about drinking, cause I am seriously dying for one and plan on breastfeeding. THe nurse/lactation conslutant said it's TOTALLY fine to have a few drinks and still breastfeed. You either wait to feed or "pump and dump".. WHoo HOO bring on the Martinis and Sam SUmmers..
Also, I think that Bethanny was just showing us a glimps of her life. She does have to "work" and the fact that she can afford a baby nurse is fine by me.
I haven't watched last night episode. But drinking beer can help with supply. not 4 beers...one and drinking it like in 5min. not sitting and enjoying it. I did that quite a bit. If you do that, you can BF right away....drinking it slowly and more than one - not so much.
I also had a drink while BFing -probably once a week-not everyday, but I would time it after I pumped from work and a beer at happy hour or even another cocktail.

This it totally true! You can get the same benefits from non-alcoholic beer since it's the yeast not the alcohol that is the benefit. When my supply tanked, my LC told me to drink 2 or 3 O'Doul's in the afternoon. It made a HUGE difference in my supply. I did feel a little red-neck though - swilling "beer" while holding & BFing my baby.
LOL...that comment totally cracked me up!!
I think she is absolutely adorable. I have no clue about the beer thing, having not dealt with that myself- but she has a nurse working for her, and the nurse gave it to her- I would doubt the nurse would give her something that would harm the baby.
As for going out- good for them! You could tell on the previews that she is upset about going out of town, but life goes on even with a baby. She is home with that baby all the time, her office is in her house- she didnt hire someone to watch the child so she could be out partying all night.
